I Specification of Letters Patent.
Application led June 7, 1912. Serial No. 702,222.
T0 all whom t may concern: Be it lmown that I, FREDERICK STEPHEN CHASEY, a subject of the King of Great Britain, residing at Winnipeg, in the Provwhich will be more readily detached and a still further object is to construct a fastener which can be easily. and cheaply manufactured.
' thereon, all as hereinafter more particularly described and illustrated in the accompanying drawing in which- Figure l represents a perspective view of the fastener applied to the collar and neck band. Fig. 2 is a further view of one form of fastener. Fig. 3 is a further view of a modified form. Fig. 4 is a cross section showing the fastener applied to the neck band and collar. Fig. 5 is a4 view Yshowing the fastener extending through the button hole in the neck band of the shirt.
Like characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the figures.
l is the enlarged portion.-
2 is the neck portion. 3 is the slightly enlarged lower portion. This lower portion 3 is provided with a curved slit adjacent the neck portion and that part of the portion 3 below the slit is bent or stamped eration takes place.
up to form the projection 5, the slit being preferably formed before said stamping op- I may construct the lower portion of dome shape as shown in Fig. 2 or of the shape shown in Fig. 3.
The device is applied as follows: The lower portion is inserted through the neck band 6 of the shirt' and through the button hole 7 of the collar, the enlarged upper portion preventing the fastener coming right through, and this upper portion is suitably curved to `conform in shape with the curvature of the neck band. When the lower portion is pushed through the button hole 7` of the collar the projection 5on the lower portion bears against the upper edge of the button hole and revents the collar from becoming detache from the fastener.
From the above description it will be seen that a device constructed according to my invention will be simple and effective and will preventA the collar becoming detached as is so often the case with studs at present on the market. Further, the device being simple in construction can be cheaply manufactured.
What I claim as my invention is:
A collar fastener comprising an enlarged upper portion, curved toy conform to the curvature of ai collar, a neck portion, Va
vslightly enlarged domey shaped lower portion, all formed integrally, said lower portion having a suitably curved slit therein,
and a projection formed by stamping up the part of the lower portion below the slit, said projection normally adapted to engage the edge of the button hole of the collar.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand in the presence of two witnesses.
FREDERICK STEPHEN CHASEY. Witnesses:
C. N. HARRIS, BERTRAND MCLEAR.
