Description

WILLIAM STQDDARD BRICK, or IITGIIBURG, MASSACHUSETTS.
Leners Patent No. 112,537, dateavmarchlm. 1871.
"IMPROVEMENT IN QlL-CAN HOLDERS.
The Schedule referred to In these Lettere-Patent and making part of the same.
To all '107mm it may concern Ae it known that I, WILLIAM STODDARD BRIGII, of'Fitchburg, State of Massachusetts, have invented certain newand useful Improvements in Oil-Can Holdfts, of which the following is a specification.
. The nature of my invention consistsin an adjustable oillcan holder, ,whichpcan be attached to the frames of Sewing, and Stitching-machines of all kinds,
looms, and all other machineryvvhere an oil-can is needed,l as' will be hereafter more particularly set forth. l
Figure 1 represents a\s ide lelevation of Vmy invention attached to the frame of a table or sewing-machine. p j
Figure 2 is a section of the same. A represents the frame of a table, sewing or stitch- I ing-machine, to which myholderB is attached.
This holderconsiists ofa cup-shaped attachment, having two downwardly-projecting standards or legs, c, which pass over or straddle a part of the frameand' which is held firmlyinrplace bymeans of .the set,- scre'we. j.
The cup-like part is suciently large to receive anl oil-can, D, and, to prevent the can from being acci` dent-ally upset, is provided with a slnall spring,l a, which extends partly over the can, So as to"hold it down upon its seat.
Without some such holder for the can, it has got to l Xbe either left upon the table7 where it-is in constant danger of being npsetandv soiling the goods, or it is placed at such a distance from the machine that it requires the operator to walk after it each time it s to be used.Y My holder, being so made that it can be attached to almost any part of the frame within reach, overcomes these inconveniences.
Having thus described my invention,
What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Let- Vters Patent, is-
' In combination with the cup-shaped holder B, legs c, andV Set-screw c, the spring a, when all are combined to operate as set forth.
WILLIAM STODDARD BRICK.
