IMPROVEMENT IN PRINTERS CASES.

VSpecification forming part of Letters Patent No. 112,445, dated March 7, 1871.

i `To all whom it'may concern:

Beit known that I, WILLIAM H. A. GREsH- i AM, of` Atlanta, in the county of Fulton and Stateoi Georgia,\have.invented a new and Improved Case t'orPrinterslUse; and-I do "i ffhereby declare that .l the following is aV full, clearpand exact description thereof, which j will enable-` others skilled inthe art to make and use the same, reference being had to the i accompanying drawing, forming part of this specification. l

I propose to provide a rectangular casepA,

being arranged to stop the `bottoms when the .i ends are under the transverse dividing-bars G. 'Ihese bottoms, being made `to slide7 save a large proportion of the time required to empty the style of case now in use; hence this case canbe used with all sizes of type, as it re 1 i quires but little timeto change from one size o another.

The bottoms, beingprovided with the stop-y *the bottom is` at the rst or any intermediate partition, G, as the case may be, thereby preventing the throwing of the contents of the two boxes into a pied7 mass. i

The compartment a, is intended for periods; b, tor commas; d, for the numerals, one to cipher, inclusive; @,f, and g, for iive, four, and` three em spaces; h, for dashes; c', lr, and Z, for en, em, and two and three ein quadrats; n o p, for en, em, and two and three ein. leaders 5 and the compartment g for rules of different lengths.

Thecompartments for periods, com mas, four and ive em spaces will be about one inch; those for the gures, two inches; dashes, three-em spaces, en and em quadrats, en and om leaders, two inches; two and three em quadrats and two and three em leaders, four inches, or there-about, and all about one inch deep. 1

This labor-saving case will be placed for uscon the top of the ordinary case, and the galley upon Which the table is being set should be placed immediately beyond or above the tabular case, thus removing the table out of the way of the sleeve or elbow of the workman. f

Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent-' The improved tabular case for printers use having the compartments arranged as specied, and the sliding bottoms, the latter being provided with springstops, all substantially i `as specified. fysprin gs, obviate all danger ofgfpi in emptying the case, for the spring-stop* being raised out he bottoni, will l WILLIAM H.
