To all whom. it may concern:
Be it known that I, AMOS HENRY BAYSORE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Canton, in the county of Lincoln and State of South Dakota, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Conveyer Pipes and Spouts, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to conveyers, particularly to conveyer pipes adapted for carrying coal, stone, grain, sand and the like, and has for its object the provision of a novel flexible conveyer spout so made in sections that when one side is worn through as inevitably occurs one or more sections of the spout may be turned so as to present an unworn surface at the point of wear.
It is a well known fact that when material is passed through a conveyer pipe or spout the portions subjected to the grinding and wear of the passing material become worn and useless and that this is especially true when the spout consists of sections on a curved line in that the wearing away is intensified by the passing of the material from one section to another and holes formed which in the absence of means for utilizing the unworn portions necessitate the abandonment of the entire pipe or spout. It is to remedy this waste of pipe material that my invention has been designed, and I accomplish this important object by providing a flexible conveyer pipe or spout formed of a plurality of sections so constructed that the sections may be turned independently of each other to present an unworn surface at the point of impact of the material conveyed and the sections so connected telescopically together as to make the conveyer, composed of the sections, flexible.
A further object is the provision of a structure of this character which will be simple and inexpensive in manufacturaefiicient in use, and easily and quickly ad ustable.
In the drawings forming a part of this specification: Figure l is a view of a conveyer formed of a plurality of my sections, and Fig. 2 is a perspective view of one of my improved sections dismembered.
Referring more particularly to the drawings, the numeral 1 designates a conveyer pipe or spout, as a whole, which is bullt up of a number of my novel sections 2. My sections comprise a frusto-conical shell 3 provided upon its larger end with a number Specification of Letters Patent.

of cars or lugs A formed integrally on the shell. A ring 5 is disposed upon the outside of the shell 3 and is secured thereto by bending the ears or lugs 4 around it to clamp the shell and the ring together. Studs 6 extend from the sides of ring 5 and are adapted to be connected with chains 7, or the like, by means of which a plurality of the sections may be held in place with the small end of one section disposed slightly within the large end of the next succeeding section as shown in Fig. 1.
It will be observed that a conveyer pipe or spout so constructed will be flexible and easily lengthened or shortened. When the wall of one section becomes worn through at the point where the conveyed material impinges upon it, the cars or lugs 4 may be loosened upon the ring 5 and the entire shell 3 rotated upon the ring 5 until a new and unworn surface is presented at the point of wear. The ears or lugs are then bent firmly around the ring again. This may be repeated until the entire shell has been worn through, thus securing a maximum length of life of the material of the sections, and also saving the loss of time and the annoyance caused by changing the entire pipe or spout or replacing a worn section with a new one.
In the drawings I have shown the conical shell 3 with four ears or lugs 4 but do not limit myself to that number as the number of ears or lugs may be varied without departing from the spirit of my invention.
Having thus described my invention what I claim is:
1. A conveyer spout comprising a plurality of sections, each section comprising a ring, a frusto conical shell, means on said shell engaging said ring, lugs on said rings, and means for holding said sections in operative relation.
2. A conveyer spout comprising a plurality of sections, each section comprising a ring, a frusto conical shell, ears formed on said shell and connected with said ring, and means for holding said sections in operative relation to each other.
3. A conveyer spout comprising a plurality of similar sections, means whereby each of said sections may be independently revolved, and means for holding said sec tions in operative relation, said means comprising a ring mounted on each of said sections and said rings secured to a continuous flexible member on each side of said sections.
4. A conveyer spout comprising a plurality of similar sections, rings on said sections, and means whereby each of said sections may be independently revolved, said means comprising a plurality of lugs on said sections adapted to be bent to engage or disengage said rings, and means for holding said sections in operative relation.
5. A conveyer spout comprising a plurality of similar sections, ears formed on said sections, rings mounted on said sections and adapted to be held in place by said ears, and means for holding said plurality of sections in operative and flexible relation to each other.
i 6. A conveyer spout comprising a plurality of sections, ears formed on said sections, rings detachably mounted on said sections and held in position by said ears, lugs on said rings, and a flexible member for holding said sections in operative engagement, said lugs being adapted to engage said flexible member.
7. A conveyer spout comprising a plurality of frusto conical shell sections adapted to telescope one Within the other, a ring mounted on each of said sections and held in place by a plurality of lugs formed on the largest ends of said sections, and lugs on said rings, said lugs being adapted to be secured to chains to hold said sections in operative flexible relation, said chains being attached to each of said sections.
