I Be it known that 1, PETER A. WALLER, a citizen of the nited States, residing at Kewanee, in the county of Henry and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and usefulImprovements in Finger Stalls or Cots, of which the following is a specification,reference beinghad therein to the accompanying drawing.

The invention relates to improvements in thumb or finger stalls, more especially finger stalls or cots particularly adapted for use in husking'corn and for similar purposes.

The invention aims to improve the construction of thumb orfinger vstalls of this general character and comprehends a special novel link structure well calculated to furnish a strong, durable, and compact wall construction for the device and one which affords a good. grippingsurface at the exterior thereof.

An important feature of the invention resides in the provision of means for preventing the links'at the bottom of the stall, when the same is used with aglove. or mitten, from doubling up between the husking glove or mitten, insuring a smooth and even engagement of this portion of the stallwith the thumb or finger and preventing cramping or pinching of the samein the use of the device. ;The invention also provides improved means for attaching the device to the hand. The invention, with all of its advantages and the particular novel combination and arrangement of parts comprising the same will be understood from the detail description hereinafter-contained when considered in connection withthe accompanying drawings formingpart hereof and illustrating one embodiment thereof.

fabric made up of a plurality of bodylinks, eachformed of a single piece of wire bent at spaced polnts to ,form a straight transverse connecting base portion 2 and two side portions 3 of substantially sigmoidal form reversely' arranged and crossed at the center forming a lower upwardly tapered loop and providing spaced upper arm portions having terminal eyes a. The links are connected one to another to provide a flexible fabric, the eyes of one link being linked into the lower loops of the neXt upper body links near the terminals of the straight base portions thereof. This specific form of link furnishes a strong and durable construction, the crossing of the arms of each link acts to reinforce the same, prevents spreading of the links when the stall is subjected to strain, and makes it possible to make a close mesh or compact wall construction with comparatively large size links affording a good gripping surface at the outer faceof As will be appreciated the reinforced cross arm link construction can be obtained without following the exact, design illustrated in the drawings and it will be understood that the invention in its broader aspect comprehends such obvious modifications in structure. I

The topmost body links of the stall are connected by a polygonal crown ring 5, which in the drawings is shown of octagonal form having straight angularly related portions passing through the eyes of the top links, the angularly related portions of the ring serving to maintain the body links in proper spaced relation at the top of the stall. The lowermost body links 6 are connected by an annular series of straight bottom links 7, which are looped into the lower loops of the said lowermost body links. When the device is used over a glove, this construction prevents the links from doubling up between the glove or mitten and the stall insuring an even fit of the stall to the finger at this point and preventing cramping or pinching. of the same in the use of the device.

' The stall is provided with a substantially rectangular shaped extension 8 terminating outer ends, said means being shown in the present instance as a buckle 11 secured to one of the straps and adapted to engage the other strap which is provided with a plurality of perforations 12 to receive the tongue of the buckle. The wrist band is advantageously constructed from a strip of flexible material such as leather or the like, which is slit longitudinally from one end to a point near its-opposite end.

The inner portion 13 of the wrist band is connected by rivets 14 or other suitable fastening means and is substantially of the same width as the rectangular shaped extension 8, said inner portion being adapted to engage the hand at the lower portion or base i ofthe thumb and forms a substantially soft from the broad principleof the invention,

1. A stall comprisinga plurality of con nected links, each constructed of a single piece of wire bent at spaced points to form a base portion andtwo sides crossed intermediate their ends forming a lower loop and upwardly extending arms having ter minal eyes linked into the lower loops of the adjacent body links.

A stall comprising a plurality of flexibly connected body links, each constructed of a single piece of wire bent at spaced points to form a base portion and two sides crossed intermediate their ends forming a lower loop and upwardly extending arms having terminal eyes engaged withthe base portions of the two adjacent body links, and an annular series of straight bottom links flexibly connecting with the lower loops of the lowermost body links.

Astall comprising a plurality of connected links, each constructed of a single piece of wire bent at spaced points to form a base portion and two sides crossed intermediate their ends forming a lower loop and upwardly extending arms having terminal connecting means, and a crown ring having straight angularly related portions arranged in the eyes of and connecting the arms of the topmost links.

4. A stall composed of flexibly connected links and having at the bottom a substantially oblong extension anda wrist band consisting of a flexible strip split to form two straps having means of connection at one end and provided at its other end with an integral connecting portion of substantially the same width as the said extension and secured to the outer terminal links of the same.

5. A stall including body links, each constructed of a single piece of wire bent at spaced points to form. a base portion and two sides crossed intermediate their ends forming a lower loop and upwardly extending arms having terminal connecting means, said stall. being provided at the bottom with a substantially rectangular shaped extension, a wrist band consisting of a flexible strip slit to form two straps having means of connection at one end and provided at its other end with an integral connecting portion, and fastening devices piercing the connecting portion and passing through the loops of the outer terminal links of the said extension.

6. A thumb stall comprising a body portion formed of a series of loosely connected links whereby the body is rendered flexible, a series of connected links extending from one side of the body at the lower edge, a series of closed links uniting the lowermost links of the body part, and a flexible securing device connected to said extended series .of links.

7. Astall of the character described composed of flexibly connected links andhaving at its lower edge at one side a substantially elongated extension, incombination with a wrist band of relatively soft flexible material connected to the said extension, said wrist band having a part adapted to engage the hand at the lower portion or base of the thumb, and strap members extending from said part and provided with means for uniting the same around the wrist of the user.
