To all 'whom t may concern Be it known thatv I, FREDERICK INKE, a citizen of Russia, residing'at San Francisco, in the county of San Francisco and State of California, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Loss-Proof Pockets, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to loss-proof pockets for garments and the primary object is to provide an auxiliary pocket in an ordinary pocket of a garment which prevents the loss of coins or articles held in the pocket andJ the removal of the contents by pickpockets.

Another object of my invention is to provide means for removably lsecuring an auxiliary pocket in an ordinary pocket of a garment.

Another object of my invention is to provide means attached to the auxiliary pocket for preserving the shape of the latter.

Other objects as well as lthe nature and vention will be more readily understood from the following description taken in connection with the accompanying drawing and appended claims.

In the drawings: Figure l, represents a front elevational view of a pocket showing the same partly broken away and my invention attached to the inner side of the same. Fig. 2, is a'vertical sectional view of my invention applied to the pocket of a garment. Fig. 3, is a fragmentary front elevation of my invention showing the same in open position.

Referring more particularly to the drawings, the vnumeral 1, represents `a fragment of a garment having secured thereto an ordinary pocket 2. Intermediate the ends ofthe pocket 2 and detachably secured tothe garmentl, through the medium of buttons and button holes or the like fastening dei vices 3, is my auxiliary loss-proof pocket 4.

'Ihe auxiliary pocket 4 comprises a piece of material, preferably cloth, cut and folded upon itself at its lower portion to provide rear and front walls 5 and 6, the edges of which diverge downwardly, the space formed between the sides of the two pockets constituting a recess for receiving a pencil or the like. The outeredges of the rear wall 5 and the front wall 6 are secured together in any suitable manner. For the purpose of preserving the shape of the pocket 4, I have secured to the upper outer edge of the front wall .6, a stifening strip 7, the

vslightly above the line of securement to the garment and is stitched transversely across adJacent its upper end to the upper end of the rear wall as clearly shown in Figs. l and 2, of the drawing, for strengthening purposes, and the double thickness is removably secured to the garment l, preferably by means of buttons and button holes or the like fastening devices 8, the latter being arranged alternately across the pocket upon opposite sides of the transversely extending stitches. The portion depending therefrom has its extreme outer end tapered and constitutes a flap or cover 9 for the pocket 4:. rIhe flap 9, is held from entering the pocket by the upper end of the stittening strip`7.

For the purpose of closing the pocket I have provided the inner face of the Hap 9 with a socket 10 adapted to engage a head 11, upon the outer face of the stilfening strip 7. It is obvious that other fastening devices may be used for securing the flap to the stilfening strip.

It will be obvious to those skilled in the art to which this invention relates that modiflcations may be made in detail without departing from the spirit or scope of the in.

Having thus fully described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is: l

1. An auxiliary pocket comprising a piece of material having the lower portion thereof cut and folded upon itself to provide front and rear walls, said walls `having their outer edges secured together to provide a pocket,
