To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that l. FRANK H. Sonne- BRING, a citizen of the United States, residing at Arcadia, in the county of Carroll and State of Iowa, have invented certain new and useful improvements in l-lusking De vices, of which the following is a specification.
One of the disadvantages incident to the use of the bushing devices heretofore proposed of the manual type for stripping husks froi'n corn, is that the husk engaging member fails in the first grab or stripping movement to catch all of the husk blades, necessitating more than one of such movements to effectively clean the ear of corn. This is due to the fact, as demonstrated by my actual. experience that the husking hook in ODBl'ihiOIl engages the longer outer blades and these alone are stripped by the operators arm movement leaving the short inner ones adhering to the ear.
The object of this invention is to overcome these disadvantages by providing a husk engaging member comprising relatively and short tooth-like elements or hooks which pierce the husk upon the stripping stro e the longer elements engaging and g the longer husk blades, while the shorter element following engages the shorter blades.
Another object in view is to so arrange the tooth member intermediate the longer members so that as the device is drawn down longitudinally of the ear of corn, the maximum surface of the husk is acted upon that is to say, the ear is permitted to pass into the space between the longer tooth members so that they engage about the sides while the intermediate tooth acts upon the top surface, and this is particularly valuable when operating upon short corn and pop corn.
It is comprehended to dispose the engaging member aforesaid on fastening means whereby to secure the same upon the Wrist of the operator, a thumb engaging member being employed to prevent the aforesaid fastening means from slipping around the wrist into an inoperative position.
With the above and other objects in View, this invention consists in the construction,
combination and arrangement of parts all as hereinafter more fully. described, claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein; I

Throughout the following detail description, and on the several figures of the drawings, similar parts are referred to by like reference characters.
Specifically describing my invention, the numeral 1 designates a husk engaging memher the body portion of which is plate-like in form and riveted or fastened in some similar manner to a wrist strap 2. At one end the strap 2 has secured one or more buckles 3 while short straps carried by the opposite one are adapted to coiiperate therewith in securing the device upon the operators wrist in a manner shown clearly in Fig. 1. I also employ a strap 5 secured at one end to the main body strap 2 beneath one corner of the plate 1 for engagement with a buckle 6 secured by a common fastening member of one of the straps 4 to the main body strap 2 and the function of this strap 5 is to prevent the device from slipping around the operators Wrist by engaging about the thumb.
As shown by the drawings, the plate 1 is formed at one end with an upturned portion in which is out or formed the outer long teeth 7 and an intermediate shorter tooth 8. As will be noted from Fig. 3 all three of the teeth lie in the same horizontal plane and the specific formation of these teeth is the important feature of my invention.
In the actual use of my device the operator moves his arm so as to engage the husks of the ear of corn in the usual manner, the

In this Way the greatest amount of surface of the corn is acted upon by the single stroke and the husks stripped clean at one operation.
It is, of course, apparent that the plate 1 with its teeth is of metallic material and I do not Wish to be limited to the exact disposition of this plate upon a strap member for holding the same in an operative position upon the hand or the arm.
Having thus described my invention, What I claim as new is:
In a husking device, a husk engaging ineinher comprising a body portion bent to form an oti'set said oflset being formed with lateral relatively long hook elements, and an intermediate relatively short hook element, said hook elements being disposed in the same plane whereby upon movement of the husk engaging member longitudinal of an. ear of corn, the lateral hook elements will the husk at the side and the intermediate hook element the husk at the top, and Wrist engaging means to which the body portion. aforesaid is secured.
