IMPROVEMENT IN STUBBLE ATTACHMENTS FOR PLOWS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 112,152, dated February 28, 1871.

Be it known that I, JEssE KINNEY, of London, in the county of Middlesex and Dominion of Canada, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Attachment to Plows; and I do declare that the following is a true and accurate description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, and being a part of this specification, in Which- My invention is shown in perspective attached to a plow in Figure l. Fig. 2 shows my device detached and in perspective.
The nature of this invention relates to a cheap and simple device for clearing plowcolters from stubble and other obstructions which accumulate an d require time and trouble to remove.
The invention consist in providing a curved rod, the upper end of which is secured in any convenient manner to the plow-beam, while its other end is notched to engage with the edge of the colter', as more fully hereinafter described.
In the accompanying drawings, A represents a plow-beam, and B the colter.
C is a rod secured to the plow-beam, as at a, in any convenient manner, and has a backward and downward curve until its lower end engages with the front edge of the colter, the end of the rod being provided with the notch b for that purpose.
By means of this device the accumulation of rubbish in the angle d, where the beam and colter meet. is entirely obviated.
Where stubble and other obstructions do not exist, the curved rod may be removed, if deemed best, or the rod attachment and colter may be made in one piece or welded together, if preferred.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The device C, when constructed, attached, and operating substantially as and for the purpose herein set forth.
