Description

tnidi Sebina GEORGE F.' PYKIET, onrAIarInLD, ILLINOIS.
* Letters Patent No,.110,283, dated December 20, 1870.
IMPROVEMENT IN YCUTTERS FOR-PLDWS.
The Schedule referred to in these Letten Patent and'maldng part of the sme;
To all whomit may. concern Be it known that I, GEORGE'F. PYKIET, of Fairfield, in the county of Wayne aud S Ite of Illinois, have invented a new and useful Im proverhent in Cutter for Plows; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof,vwhich will enable others skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing forming part ot' this speciiication'.
Figure 1 is a side view of a plow to which my im-A proved cutter has been attached.
Figure 2 is a top'view of the same, the beam being broken away to sho'w'the construction. Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
The principleof my invention consists in lifting the vplow over the roots which may be under, and separating the trash which may be upon the ground by some instrumentality in front of and over the landside of the plow.
The means which I preferably employ to carry out this principle willbe first described in connection with all that is necessary' to a full understanding thereof, and then clearly pointed out in the claim.
'A is the plow-beam B are the handles;
O is the standard;
D islthe landside;
, -E is the mold-board; and
F is the plow-point, about the construction of which parts there is nothing new.
G is the cutter, the forward end of which "is curved downward and rearward, as shown in iig. 1, so that its lower end may rest against the point FA of the plow.v
The rear part of the cutter G extends back with a slight upward inclination, and is attached to the standard G and tothe rear part ofthe beam A.
The convex edge of the cutter upon the mold-board side is beveled off, as shown in fig. 2, leaving the landside side of the said mittel-straight, and infa line with the landside of the plow.
Having thus described my invention,
-I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters A Patent- The cutter G G, having its curved end resting upon :he point F of the plow,be`veled along its upper edge on one side' and aligned with thelandside on the other, as and for the purpose described.
GEORGE F. PYKIET.`
