To all 207mm it may concern Be it known that I, J OHN JAMES Sxxno'r, a citizen of the United States, residing at Belle Plaine, in the county of Benton and State of Iowa, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Oil-Containers, of which the following in a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings.

This invention relates to new and useful improvements in oil containers and more particularly to a container which is so constructed that the contents may be readily dispensed therefrom, the object of the invention being to provide a container which is provided with a flexible bottom for forc ing the contents from the container and is also provided with means for returning said bottom to its normal position.

Another object of the present invention is the provision of an oil container of the above character which will possess advantages in points of elliciency and durability, is inexpensive to manufacture and at the same time is simple in construction and operation.

With the above and other objects in view, the invention consists in the novel features of construction and the combination and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter more fully described, pointed out in the claim and shown in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a side elevation of an oil container constructed in accordance with my invention, parts thereof being broken away and in section to disclose the interior: Fig. 2 is a. transverse sectional view; and Fig. 8 is a top plan view of the coil spring.

Referring more particularly to the draw ing's, 1 indicates the body of the container which may be of any well known shape and constructed of any suitable metal such as copper, brass or the like and is provided at its upper reduced end with an internally threaded boss 2 in which is removably engaaed a dispensing spout 3.

The body 1 is provided with a suitable flexible bottom whereby when inward pressure is exerted thereon, the contents of the container. will be forced outwardly through the spout 3. Mounted upon the bottom 1 and arranged upon the interior of the container 1 is a shallow cup member 5 which is riveted or otherwise secured to the Specification of Letters Patent.

bottom -it and in which is arranged the lower end of the inverted cone-shaped coil spring 6 that is secured in any suitable manner within the cup 5 and extends upwardly into the body of the container.

The upper end of the coil spring 6 is securely held in position and against downward movement by means of the brace rods 7, the lower ends of which are secured to the bottom of the container adjacent the side wall thereof, while the upper ends thereof are secured, as shown at S, to the upper convolution of the spring 6. The upper convolution of the spring is provided with recesses in which the upper ends of the brace rods are arranged and secured by riveting the same to the spring.

From the above it will be readily apparent that when the inward pressure is exerted upon the bottom member l, the con tents of the can will be forced outwardly through the spout 3, thus placing the spring (5 under tension, and soon as the pressure is released from the bottom 4, will return the bottom 4: to its normal position. It will be noted that by having the spring 6 securely retained against outward movement, the same may be quickly placed under tension upon the inward movement of the flexible bottom at to return said bottom to its normal position after pressure has been released therefrom.

The operation as described above ma be readily carried out as it will be noted by reference to Fig. 1 that the flexible bottom 4 is concave with respect to the interior of the container so that the central portion of the body extends below the outer edges thereof which are integrally formed with the side wall of the container, and as the lower end of the spring 6 is arranged upon the central portion of the bottom. the same will be. compressed or placed under tension invention into practice without sacrificing any of the novel features or departing from the scope of the appended claim.

What I claim is A device-of the class described embodying a holder having a flexible bottom, a shallow cup centrally secured to the bottom of the holder, an inverted cone shaped coiled spring having its lower coil disposed within the cup and its upper coil provided with recesses, and tie rods having their lower ends secured to the bottom at points contiguous to the inner wall of the holder and their upper ends secured in the recesses, whereby to prevent shifting of the parts relative to each other.
