f UNITED STATES PATENT- OFFICE.
RUDOLPH N. HUNTER, or PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA, ASSIGNOR ro scor'r Berna COMPANY, A CORPORATION or PENNSYLVANIA,
SANITARY COVER FOR TOILET-SEATS.
Be it known that I, RUDOLPH citizen of the United States, and resident of Philadelphia, ,county of and State of Pennsylvania, an Improvementin Sanitary Covers for Toilet-Seats, of which the following isa.
specification.
The, object of my invention, is to provide a sanitary covering for toiletseatsadapted for public service, the coveringbeing so .ap;
plied that it ma be readily renewed.
My object is urther, to provide such covering by the employment of soft paper in .roll form,'whieh may be provided without requiring special machinery or dies, thereby to be empldyed at My invention consists in combining the seat with suitable'holders andguides. and employing therewith a web or webs of paper in roll form carried by the holder and guided about the guides so as to cover the edges of the seat aperture.
More specifically considered, my invention in its'preferred form, may be best practised by using a double web roll, the webs of which are simultaneously employed as a seat covering as more fully described hereinafter.
My invention also comprehends details of construction which, together with the features above s ecified, will he better understood by re erence to the accompanyin drawings, in which:
Figure 1 isa plan view of aseat with my improved sanitary covering applied thereto;.Fig. 2 is a side elevation of the same; Fig. 3 1s a plan View of my improvements in modified form.' Fig. 4 is a front elevation and Fig. 5 a side elevation of the m0 dified form of my invention shown 111 rear guides and Fig. 7 illustrates the folds made in the y I provide Fig. 3; Fig. '6 is a plan viewof one of'the of the modified construction;
paper web thereby; and Fig. 8 is aside elevation showing webs.
2 is the usual seat, which may be provided with the aperture 1 and maybe hingedat 3. To thefront portion of the seat I secure a slotted guide 6 and below it, a holder 5 for supporting the paper roll 9. At the rear portions of the seat and at each side thereof, I provide oblique guides 7 and 8 about which the Specification of Letters Patent.
Philadelphia, have invented.-
my preferred roll of'two PatentedDec. 15, 1 914;
Application filed September-'26, 1912, SerialNo. 722,527.
paper webs are guided. The roll 9 cominto a single roll and so as to unwind together. These webs [are drawn upward through the slotted guide 6 and then separated, web 10 being guided about the guides 7 and web 11 guided about guide 8. The free ends 13 of these webs are crossedas at 14 and drawnnllnder, the opposite- webs 10 and 11; so as to beheld downby them. The
guides] and 8 are-obli 'uely arranged with,
respect to each'otherxan to the slotted guide t, so as to cause thepaper webs to fold at the proper angles to provide the bounding-edges 12 and 14 to cover the edges of the opening 4, as will be readily understood by reference to Fig. 1.
In the modification shown in Fig. 3, the guides 7 and 8 are formed of flat plates instead of bent wires to provide double angular edges about which the web is bent, so that the angle between the parts 12 and 14-. of the web is not as acute as in the construction' of Fig. 1. It is to be understood that I do not restrict myself as to the form of the guides for the webs.
I have shown myinvention emloying prises two webs 10 and 11 rolled together a roll of two webs, but it will be understood that if desired a single web may be-employed, and when so used may be guided about both guides 7 and 8 and returned to the guide 6, as this would be merely a mat- ,ter of threading or guiding the web about the guides and would not tive feature of providin ing byuseof a web an ides. I therechange theoperaa sanitarycoverfore' do not restrict mysel in this respect,
double webs as enabling the use of lighter, and narrower webs while providin a multiple covering at the rear portion 0 the seat.
ters Patent, is
1. In a sanitary seat, combined with guides at front and rear,
toilet seat covering, the
though I -prefer the employment of the portion thereof and arranged. at angles to each other, a compound ro of peer having two webs guided about the guldes and having their si e edges overlapping the seat 6- opening.
2. In a sanitary toilet seat covering, the seat, combined with guides at front an rear portion thereof and arranged at angles to each other, a compound roll of paper having two webs guided about the guides and having their side edges overlapping the seat opening the free ends of the respective webs being arranged under the opposite webs whereby said free ends are held down and the webs provide a plurality of paper plies at the rear portion of the seat.
3. In a sanitary toilet seat covering, the seat, combined with a roll holder at the front of the seat and two obliquely arranged guides at the rear portion of the seat, and a compound roll o. paper comprisin two webs rolled upon each other and sai webs guided apart and thence about the ides and finally folded to rest over each ot er to form a plurality of plies and with the edges of the webs overlapping the seat opening.
