Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Dec. 15, 1914.
Application filed February 6, 1913. Serial No. 746,626.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FRANK S. JONES, a citizen of the United States, residing at Bainbridge, in the county of Decatur, State of Georgia, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Document- Files; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to files and particularly to those adapted for storing papers and other documents.
head members 10 and 11. mounted on the threaded ends 14 of each of The object of the invention resides in the provision of a file which is adapted to facilitate the distribution of and hold checks and deposit tickets in banks.
With the above and other objects in view the invention consists in the details of construction and in the arrangement and combination of parts to be hereinafter .more fully described and particularly pointed out in the appended claim.
In describing the invention in detail reference will be had to the accompanying drawings wherein like characters of reference denote corresponding parts in the several Views, and in Which- Figure 1 is a perspective view of a file constructed in accordance with the inven-- said rods are knobs 16 which engage the outer sides of respective head members 10 and 11, the inner sides of said head members engaging washers 17 mounted on the rods 12 and 13.
Slidably mounted on the rods 12 and 13 are follower blocks 18 and 19. Also slidably mounted on the rods 12 and 13 between the head member 10 and the follower block 18 is a plurality of partitions 20 which are provided at their upper ends with an index 21 preferably of the alphabetical type, while partitions 22 are slidably mounted on the rods 12 and 13 between the head member 11 and the follower block 19, said partitions 22 being also provided at their upper ends with indices 23.
By this construction it will be apparent that checks can be deposited between the partitions 20 in alphabetical order, while deposit tickets can be deposited between the partitions 22, in alphabetical order, and the follower blocks 18 and 19 adjusted to properly support the partitions 20 and 22 in conjunction with the head members. With the checks and deposit tickets thus disposed and arranged in the file the whole device may be transferred to the bookkeeper of a bank by the teller to the great convenience and assistance of the former. If titions 20 and 22- may be provided with a difierent type of indices on their rear faces so that upon the reversal of the device same may be used for an entirely different purpose.
What I claim is:-
In a document file, the combination of spaced head members, rods connecting said head members, said rods havingtheir terminals threaded and engaged through respective head members, flanges on said rods at the inner ends of the threaded portions and engaging the inner sides of respective head members, nuts engaged on said threaded terminals and abutting the outer sides of the head members, a pair of follower blocks slidably mounted on said rods, and a plurality of indexed partitions slidably mounted on the rods between each follower block and the adjacent head member.
In testimony whereof, I affix my signature, in the presence of two witnesses.
FRANK S. JONES.
