THE NORRIS PETERS CO, PHOTO-LITHU.. WAbHINGION, n. C
CHARLES A. HOIVIRIG, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS.
ADVERTISING nnvrcn.
Application filed July 21, 1913.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CHARLES A. Human,
a resident of Chicago, in the county of.
Cook and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Advertising Devices, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
The invention relates to advertising devices, and designs more particularly to pro vide an improved device having an index or the like, and having means whereby it may be attached to an article at the point of the index, so that the index will point directly to the article, said index being associated with advertising or other matter printed on the device.
In the drawings :Figure 1 is a front view of a card embodying the invention. Fig. 2 is an enlarged sectional view on the line 22, Fig. 1. Fig.3 is a rear view.
The card comprises a portion a which is adapted to contain the advertising or other matter, such as the price of an article to .which the card is to be applied. The portion 6 of the card is in the form of a hand with the index finger 0 pointing therefrom. A pin cl projects from the tip of the index finger, being secured to the back thereof by a strip 6, so that the pin, which is preferably flattened between said strip and the card, will be disposed therebetween and will serve with the strip to reinforce the index portion of the card.
When the card is to be applied to a garment or other article, it is only necessary to push the pin 03 into the garment at Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Nov. 24, 1914.
Serial No. 780,144.
any point to which attention is to be directed by the card, which will conceal the pin in the garment. By this means wherever it is attached it will direct attention, and it may be applied readily to any part of a garment or article by inserting the pin at the desired point. By forming the card with a pin, an index finger and a hand, it serves as means for indicating the portion of the article to which attention is desired. Furthermore, said pin serves as the sole means of support for the card, so that the latter may project at any desired angle from the article designated.
Having thus described the invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Lettors Patent, is
1. An advertising device, formed to provide an advertising space and a direction indicating portion, and a penetrating means projecting from the end of said portion for attaching the device to an article, said means forming the sole supportfor said device.
2. An advertising card, formed to provide a space for. printed matter and an index finger portion, and a pin secured to and eX- tending longitudinally of the finger portion to stiffen it and having its point projecting from the end of the finger portion for securing the card to an article.
