WILLIAM J. GAGNON, OF BRIDGEPORT, CONNECTICUT, ASSIGNOR TO THE BRYANT ELECTRIC COMPANY, OF BRIDG-EPORT, CONNECTICUT, A. CORPORATION OF CON- NECTICUT.
BEAD CHAIN.
Application filed July 9, 1913.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, WILLIAM J. GAcNoN, a citizen of the United States of America, residing in the city of Bridgeport, in the county of Fairfield and State of Connecticut, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Bead Chains, of which the following is a specification.
The object of my invention is to provide a simplified form of bead chain, consisting of a series of flexibly connected beads, each bead carrying its own means of connection with the next.
The construction will be understood from the following description In the accompanying drawing, Figure l is a View, mainly in longitudinal section, showing, on an enlarged scale, a piece of bead chain constructed in accordance with my invention; Fig. 2 is a corresponding side view; Fig. 3 is an end view of one of the beads.
Each head of my improved chain is formed out of tubular material, of approximately the diameter of the largest part of the bead. This large part of the head is a hollow ball A, preferably almost spherical but with a tubular neck a and a head I) on the outer end of the neck. In the course of manufacture, the head of the neck of each head is to be inclosed .within the hollow ball of the Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Nov. 17, 1914.
Serial No. 778,102.
next head, the neck having the requisite freedom of movement within the opening 0 of such hollow bead, as will be readily understood.
I claim as my invention 1. A bead chain, consisting of a series of flexibly connected beads, each a hollow ball with a substantially closed tubular neck and a closed head thereon to be contained within 40 the ball of an adjacent bead, substantially as described.
A bead chain, consisting of a series of flexibly connected beads, each a hollow ball with a substantially tubular neck and a circular closed head thereon to be contained within the ball of an adjacent bead, substantially as described.
3. A head chain consisting of a series of flexibly connected beads, each bead comprising a substantially spherical ball having thereon a neck of relatively small diameter and a flattened spherical head on said neck contained within the ball of the adjacent bead, substantially as described.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification, in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
