Be it known that I, .ABRAHAM SONDACK, a subject of the Emperor of Russia, residing in the borough of Manhattan, city, county, and State of New York, have invented an Improvement in Bedpost-Brackets, of which the following is a specification.

My present invention relates to a bed-post bracket adapted to be permanently connected to the posts of a bedstead, in order to have connected thereto the head, foot and side rails in such a manner as to securely support the same.

The object of my present invention is the provision of a simple and cheaply constructed bed-post bracket which may be securely connected permanently to the posts of a bedstead, and to which the head and foot rails are permanently secured, and in which the ends of the side rails are adapted to be so received as to rigidly connect the parts together, as will be hereinafter more particularly described.

In the drawing, Figure 1 is a sectional elevation of my improved bed-post bracket. Fig. 2 is sectional plan of the same. Fig. 3 is a side elevation of the hook member employed at the ends of the side rails of the bedstead, and Fig. 1 is a partial sectional plan similar to Fig. 2, showing a modified form of the invention.

Referring to the drawing, my improved bed-post bracket preferablv comprises side members, indicated at 10 aiid 11, and made of sheet metal or any other suitable material. Along one edge, as indicated respectively at 12 and 13, these side members are outwardly turned or flanged. As shown in Fig. 2, these flanges are curved to conform to the outer surface of the bed-post 1d, with which, when the bracket is in position, they are directly in contact, or as shown in Fig. l, these flanges which are indicated at 31 and 32, respectively, may be turned at right angles to the side members so as to bear directly against the adjacent surface of a square bed-post, indicated at 83.

10 and 11. The side member 11, as shown in Figs. 1 and 2, is provided with an angular flange 25, to which, in any suitable manner, the head or foot rail 26 of a bedstead may be connected.

As will be apparent from the drawing, in the bed-post bracket constructed as hereinbefore described, there will be a socket space 27 provided between the adjacent sides of the spacer members and the intervening portions of the side members. This socket space is adapted to receive a tongue 29, provided with a hook member 28, which, as will be understood, may be suitably connected to the ends of the long rails of the bedstead. This tongue member 29 is adapted to fit snugly within the socket space 27, and the hook member 28 is also provided with a tongue 80 adapted to engage the outer or opposite face of the spacer 20 so that when the hook member 28 is in position, the side rails will securely connect the brackets so as to complete the frame of the bedstead. Also, as clearly shown in Figs. 1 and 3, the socket member may be provided with a slight projection 3% extending above the flange 25, in order to contact with and secure the frame of the bed spring in position.

I claim as my invention:

1. A bed-post bracket comprising a pair of similar side members, flanges on each of the same, at corresponding sides thereof, spacers between the said side members, a yoke member extending through and beyond the flanged sides of the said side members, and means for connecting the said yoke member to the said side members, there being a socket provided between the said spacers and the intervening portions of the said side members to receive a hook member connected to the ends of the side rails of a bed-stead, the said hook member being provided with a recess to receive one of said spacers.

2. A bed-post bracket comprising a pair of similar side members, flanges on both of the same, at corresponding sides thereof, an inner spacer and an outer spacer, both spacers being placed between the said side members, a yoke member extending through and beyond the flanged sides of the said side members, means for connecting the said yoke member to the said side members, and a flange integral with one of the said side members and to which the head or foot rails of a bed-stead may be connected, the said bracket being provided with a socket between the side spacers and the intervening portions of the said side members to receive a hook member connected to the ends of the side rails of the bed-stead, the said hook member being provided with a recess to receive the outer spacer with the forward end of the said hook member fitting within the socket between the said spacers and the intermediate portions of the side members.

3. A bed-post bracket comprising a pair of similar side members, flanges on each of the same at corresponding sides thereof, spacers between the said side members,

means for securing the said side members and the spacers together, a yoke member extending through and beyond the flanged sides of the said side members, and means for connecting the said yoke member to the said side members.

4. A bed-post bracket comprising a pair of similar side members, flanges on each of the same at corresponding sides thereof, spacers between the said side members, means for securing the said side members and the spacers together, a yoke member extending through and beyond the flanged sides of the said side members, means for.
