t To zZZfwwm/t't may concern: Be it known that I, Mormon KoHN, a citi- `zen of the United States, residing at- Chi` cago, county of Cook,` State` of Illinois, have invented a certain newand useful Improvement in Display Apparatus, and declare the `following to be a full,elear, and exact:` descript-ion of the same, such aswll` enable to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanyingdrawings, which form a part of this specification." l l 4 My invention has fo-rits object to produce a simple and novel apparatus in which a series of trays may be disposed in step-like formation` within a suitable case, be easily and quickly removed and replaced, and be capable ofbeing handled as a single iiat tray when removed `from theicase.

The various features of novelty `whereby my invention is characterized willhereinafter be pointed out with particularity `in the claims; but, fora fullunderstanding of my invention and of its object `and advantages, `reference maybe had to the following detailed description takenin connection with the accompanying drawings, wherein:

Referring to the drawings, 1 represents a suitably constructed casepreferably of glass for the purpose of exposing to view objects positioned within the case.` One side of the case, preferably the back, is made in the form of a door 2 which is hinged at its lower edge as indicated at 3. 4, 5 and 6 represent a series of `individual trays approximatelyas long as the mately equal to the depth or width of the case. The` parts are i so arranged that: the trays will lit nicely into the case when the rear tray is lifted lso as to bring it near the top of the case.` When not otherwise supported the trays tend to drop into a single plane so as to `permit all `of :them to rest upon a fiat surface. t The trays are held in their step-like formation by means of a door which, whenclosed, bears against the backofthe uppermost tray and prevents it from swinging out, the lower` most tray` bearing against the front wall of the case.v Consequently, when the door is opened, there is nothing to support the trays in their step-like formation and theupper nes descend with the door until they lie at. i i

It is often desirable to remove the `trays so as to permit a closer inspection to be made of their contents than can be had while the trays are in the case.` I therefore provide means `for facilitating the removal andthe handlingof the trays, and for preventing` the trays from being placed in the case in such a way that they are aptto become jammed when the door is closed. For the purpose of attaining someof these ends of my invention I i provide the rearmost tray, 6, with pins l0 projecting from the ends there-` of, andon the door I provide stopmembers i i l1 which are adapted to lie below the pins P when the trays are assembled in the case and the door `is closed, and to engage with the pins asthe door is `opened and partially withdrawthe trays from the case.` When `the trays are again inserted `into the case,

In the preferred arrangement the stops are in the form of hooks Which have their open sides directed toward the upper edge of the door.

For the purpose ofpermitting the several trays to be handled in the samek Way as it gaged by hand grasping the tray 6 so as lto be held against the underside of that tray.

While I have illustrated and describedr only a single preferred form of my invention,'I do not desire to be limited to the particular structural details thus illustratedand described; but'intend to vcover all forms and arrangements which fall Within the terms employed in the definitions of my invention constituting the appended claims.

I claim:

1. In a display apparatus, a show case, a doorhinged at the bottom on one side of the case,l a plurality of trays movably connected together vand forming a series of steps extending downwardly from the'side having the door to the opposite side, pins projecting from the ends of the'uppermest tray, and hooks carried by the door in positions to engage with said pins when the door is opened, the open sides of the hooks `vbeing directed toward the door. f
