'Be it known that I, IlATHAE HATCH, citizen of the United States, and a resident of Albany, county of Albany, and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Union Suits; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and usethe same, reference being bad to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon, which form part of this specification.

The invention relates. to an article of wearing apparel, more particularly to union undergarments for men, Women end childre One of the objects or the invention is to construct a union suit to fit the body of the yvearer perfectly and securely and to make It very easy to put on and take oil the person of the wearer.

Another object is to construct a garment in which it is not necessary to provide the objectionable lines of buttons and buttonholes or securing means which are usual in mens garments, which extend from the neck thereor to the crotch, thereby preventing the objectionable gaping due to the button structure.

Another object is to provide a union suit which is practically integral in the'body portion thereof, no fastening such as outtons, buttonhcles and the like being utilized in the front of the garment, or in the vertical line up and down the back.

Another object is to provide a union undergarment in which the fastening means are of minimum number and arranged at the back and at the side of the garment substantially at the Waist line thereof.

Other objects willappear from the following description and claims. I

The garment is especially useful for persons engaged in athletics, such as horseback riding and the like. The construction is such that the upper portion is practically continuous around the body, similar to ordinary sweaters or athletic undershirts, and the lower or leg portions of the garment are also continuous and are integral with the front part of'the shirt portion and amply secured at the rear and side by the use of only a few, usually three, buttons or fastening means.

The garment is so constructed that in cut ting it on the body, the legs oi the wearer may be inserted into the leg portions in a trousers are put on, and then the upper pcrtion is placed upon the body of the wearer over the head in a manner in which a sweater or athletic shirt is put on the body of the wearer. The rear nortions of the garment are closed and stoned by the securing means provided suitable places. 5

The arment ma be made of either woven .or knitted fabric, and except for the features of construction which form-my invention, the garment is made in the usual way, namely, the leg portions may be long or short, the arm portions long or short, the arm and le ends are ribbed as usual, neck being finished inuthe usual Way.

A union suit having its front substantially integral from top to bottom, and its back provided with independent back and l seat flaps, having means to secure the one 15 1 to the other, and a substantially vertical slit in the seat flap extending from the top thereof to a point substantially at the crotch of the garment.
