' these and' such other objects in view that are necessarily incident to a device of theabove character, the present invention consists in the -novel construction, combination, and arrangement oit' parts hereinafter more fully described, illustrated, and
.A I claimed.,
A preferable embodiment of the invention is shown in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure l is a perspective vienr of a founpen holderconstructed in accordance .with the present invention. Fig. 2 is a lon- 'tudinal sectional View thereof showing by l and dotted lines respectively the manner in which thecomplete pen is retained with' inthe holder and the manner in which it: is
genera-li object.y of' pro-V removed therefrom. F ig. 3 is a detail view illustrating the manner o clipping or securing thc holder within a pocket.
Like reference characters designate corresponding parts in the several ligures of the drawings.
The device as an entirety may be referred to as a holding bracket consisting of a main supporting strip designated by the numeral 1, a stationary cap piece 2 at one extremity ot' 'the strip and a socket, member 3 at the opposite end of the strip. The said strip 1 preferably consists oi a single piece of sheet metal concave orconvex in cross section to conform to the curature oi the fountain pen, and of a length somewhat greater than the normal length of the conventional fountain pen. The said cappiece is rigidly united to one end oi the strip l and is of a dished t'orin to constitute a. receiving socket for the cap portion of the fountain pen, while the opposite end of `the fountain pen is adapted to be received within the inner open end portion oi the socket member 3 and to bear against a follower plate 4 loosely arranged within the socket member 3 and nornlally held under spring pressure or tension by a presser spring interposed between the said plate 4. and the betteln of the socket member 3.
1Vhcn inserting a pen in place, one end thereot' is inserted into the socket member B and pressed against the plate it suliciently ro bring the opposite end of the fountain pen into the plane o l the cap piece Q so that by re1easin the hold on the fountain pen the spring o and plate l will move itI into the retained position shown in Fig. To re lease the fountain pen, it is simply necessary to move the same longitudinally against the presser spring 5 solas to release the same :from engagement with the cap piece The supporting strip l has fitted thereto a fastening clip G preferably oi the spring type and adapted to be engaged with the edge of a pocket or other receptacle as shown in -Fig 3 of the drawings, or attached in any convenient position on or 'about any part of y a garment.
What I claim is: gzuinentlaitaching device carried by Said A fountain pen-ho1der comprising a supstiip. 10 poi-ting strip having at its upper end a fixed In iesiimony whereof I affix iny signature dished cap piece, and at its lower end a fixed in presence of two witnesses. cylindrical socket member,v a spring pressed GEORGE @AFPS BEIDLER. follower pla/ce confined Within said socket Witnesses: and. adapted to force a pen into holding en- JOHN VATTs,
