Be it known that I, ALVARADO J ONES, of' Ran'- dolph, in the county of 1,)odgeI and in the State of Wisconsin, have invented certain new and useful Im-V provements in Sleighs; and do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawing and to the letters of reference marked thereonY making a part Of this specification.
The nature of my invention consists in the construction and arrangement of the beam and knees of a sleigh, as will be hereinafter fully set forth.
In order to enable others skilled inthe art to which my invention appertains to make andY use the same, I will now proceed to describe its construction and operation, referring to the annexed drawing, in which-'-l Figure 1 is an end view, and
Figure 2 is a plan View.
A represents a piece .of timber bent, as shown, at
4one end.
Two of these piecesL'A and B,'are used to form the' knees and beam for one bench. They are halved to- -gether in the center, as shown in g. 2, leaving the beam no wider in the/centerthan anywhere else.
By this method oi'- making the beams and, knees of two pieces of timber, Il can make the sleigh of any widthdesired with the same stnli".
vMetallic braces may be used to strengthen `the knees. On the ends of the timbers A B are tenons, togo into the runners and fenders of the sleigh.
