Letters Patent No. 109,636, dated November 29, 1870.
IMPROVEMENT lN FIFTH-WHEELS.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and maldng part of the same.
To all whom, zt may concern Bc it known that I, JOSEPH Ln ROY, of Marat-hon, in the county of Cortland and State of New York, have invented a new and valuable Improvement in Fifth-Wheels; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description ofl the construction and opera-tion of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawing making a part of this specification and to,thev letters and. figures of reference marked thereon.

The nature of my invention consists in thc con-- struction of an iron platform for wagons, as will be hereinafter'tully set forth.
In order to-enable others skilled in the art to which my invention appertains to make and use the same, I will now proceed to describe its construction and operation, referring to the annexed drawing A A represent the side bars, 'connected at their rear ends by a short bar, B, with several holes for the attachment of the reach.
Their front ends are held a suitable distance apart, forming a V-shaped frame, by means of another bar, C, placed a convenient dist-ance in rear of the front ends.
i The centers of the bars C and B are connected byanother bar, D, and on top of the frame thus formed is placed the ifth-wheel E.
