To aZZ whom it may concern Be it known that I, CHRIs'rorI-I GLEGKLER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Staunton, in the county of Macoupin and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Safety Pocket- Clasps, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings.

This invention relates to new and, useful improvements in safety pockets and more particularly to a safety pocket clasp, the main object of the invention being the provision of a clasp of the above character which can be detachably connected to the pocket in a very short time, when it is de' sired to use the same or readily removed therefrom.

Another object of the invention is the provision .of a safety pocket clasp which includes in its construction a pin member, sockets secured to the article of clothing to which the device is to be attached, adapted to receive the ends of said pin member and an elastic strip yieldably connecting said sockets to retain the same in engagement with the ends of the pin.

A further object of the invention is the provision of a safety pocket clasp of the above character which will possess advantages in points of efficiency and durability,

is inexpensive to manufacture and, at the same tune, is simple in construction and operation.

With the above and other objects in view, the invention consists in the novel features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter referred to and more particularly pointed out in the specification and claims.

In the accompanying drawing forming a part of this application, Figure 1 is a side elevation of a clasp constructed in accordance with my invention, illustrating the same in its operative position. Fig. 2 is a rear elevation. Fig. 3 is a front elevation; and Fig. 4c is a detailed enlarged sectional view of one of the socket members, illustrating the same engaged with one end of the pin member.

In carrying out my invention, I provide a pin member 1, the ends of which are provided with reduced necks 2 forming heads 3 which are tapered to a point at theirouter ends, as indicated at 4. It will be noted from the accompanying drawing, that the end of the plate, which forms the socket, isdisposed in parallel relation with the body portion of theplate' and the said plates are yieldably connected by means of an elastic strip 9, the ends of which are arranged within the transverse slot 7 and secured in any suitable mannen' I In the construction of the plates 5, the sockets 7 are first formed and are provided with the inwardly projecting beading 8, the body of the plate is then bent inwardly upon the socket and disposed in parallel relation therewith, as clearly illustrated. It will be apparent that after the pin has been engaged through the lining of the pocket, as illustrated in the accompanying drawing, the ends thereof may be readily engaged with the sockets and said sockets will be yieldably retained in place by means of the elastic strip 9. It will be apparent that my improved clasp may be readily attached or detached from the pocket and when in its effective position, affords a suitable retainer for any articles within the pocket. Itwill be understood that my device may be applied to any form of clothing inv which pockets are used. It will also be apparent that my improved device as herein described and illustrated, is extremely simple in construction and can be manufactured at a comparatively low cost.
