Be it known that I, THOMAS DEDIO, 2t subject of the Emperor of Austria-Hungary, residing at Dnipro, Alberta, Canada, have invented certain new and useful improvements in Ships Tables, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in Ships Tables.

An object of the invention is to provide a stabilizing table for ships that will always occupy a horizontal position thereby preventing articles placed thereon from upsetting or falling off the table.

With the above and other objects in View that will appear as the nature of the invention is better understood, the same consists in the novel construction, combination, and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter more fully described and then claimed, reference being had to the accompanying drawing by like characters throughout the several views, and wherein Figure 1 is a table embodying my invention. Fig. 2 is a cross sectional view of the same, and, Fig. 3 is a top plan view of the stabilizing weight detached.

Referring more specifically to the drawing accompanying this application which illustrates a preferred embodiment of my invention, the reference numeral 10 designates the legs of the table, the legs preferably being formed of sheet metal and bent at their lower ends to provide feet 11 by which the same may be secured to a floor or other support. The legs 10 are inclined inwardly and at their upper ends receive a head block 12 that is suitably secured thereto.

The table top 13 is preferably oblong in shape and is mounted upon the head block 12 in a manner so as to always occupy a horizontal position. Secured to the underside of the table top 13 are transversely arranged plates 14- and 15, the said plates being bent downwardly at right angles at their ends to provide ears 16 and 17 that are disposed adjacent the edge of the table top 13. An eye 18 is secured to the under face of the table top in the center thereof and receives an eye bolt 19 that extends into the head block as at 20 to constitute the support for the table.

Secured to the under side of the head block 12 is an eye bolt 21 and suspended from the, eye bolt 21 perspective view of a ships is a freely-movable rod 22, headed at its lower end as at 23 to provide a support for the stabilizing weight 24. A collar of configuration similar to the weight 2 1, surrounds the weight and is provided at its lower end with a rightangularly bent flange .26. The flange 26 and ears 16 and 17 are apertured to receive the ends of connecting links between the table top 13 and the weight 24. These connecting llnks comprise side links 27 loosely connected at their upper ends to the ears 16 and at their lower ends to the flange 26. The end links 28 are loosely connected at their upper ends to the ears 17 and to provide a clearance for the legs 10 are joined together for a portion of their lengths as at 29, the said links separating at a point adjacent their lower ends to be secured to the flange 26.

The eye bolt connection 18 and 19 between the table top 13 and the head block 12 is a universal joint and the weight being connected to the table top by the links 27 and 28, the said table top is caused to always assume a horizontal position, regardless of the rocking of the ship or the roughness of the sea.

lVhile I have shown and described the preferred embodiment of my invention, I do not wish to confine myself thereto, as various forms, modifications, and arrangement of parts as shown may be had without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed.

I claim 1. A self-leveling table, table-top, transverse under side of comprising a plates secured to the the table-top and provided with depending ears at their ends, supporting legs secured at their upper ends to a head-block, an eye-bolt depending centrally from said top, a second eye-bolt extending centrally through the head block and. connecting with the eye-bolt of the table, an eyebolt depending centrally from the under side of said head block, a rod loosely connected to said last-named eye-bolt, a. weight suspended upon the lower end of said rod, and link connectio-ns between said weight and said depending ears.

A self-levelingv table, comprising a tabletop, transverse plates having depending perforated ears at their ends secured to the under side of the table-top, table-supporting legs having their lower ends adapt ed to be secured to a floor, a head-block to cured to the lower end of said rod, a collar which the upper ends of the legs are secured, hooked into the perforations of said ears at eye-bolt connections between said head-block their upper ends. 10 and the table-top a rod loosely-suspended In testimony whereof I affix my signature centrally from said head block, a weight sein presence of two Witnesses.
