To all'iohom it m (lg/concern Be it known that I, JOSEPH J. BonnK, a citizen of the United States, residing at Philadelphia, inthe county of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Collar-Bands for Shirts, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to improvements in collar bands for shirts, the object of the invention being to provide a shirt at the col- 'lar with integral attaching devices which dispense with the necessity for independent buttons to connect the ends of the collar band and to attach the ordinary collar to the shirt.

A further object is to provide a garment with attaching members of the same material as the garment, and which form an in tegral part of the garment.

A further object is to provide an improved construction of collar band which may be readily attached to any ordinary shirt and which contains its own attaching devices.

With these and other objects in view, the invention consists incertain novelfeatures of construction and combinations and ar rangements of parts as will be more fully hereinafter described and pointed-out in the claim.

In the accompanying drawings; Figure 1 is a. fragmentary. perspective view illustrating my improved collar band on a shirt. Fig. 2 is a view illustrating a blank constituting one half of my improved collar band, and. Fig. 3 is a view in vertical section on an enlarged scale through the collar band on 'the line 3-3 of Fig. 1,

One end of the collar band formed by the pieces 3, 3, is extended beyond the edge of the shirt and cut out forming a locking ton ue 8, and the lines of stitching throughout the collar band extend throughout the edge of this locking tongue to securely hold the several thicknesses of material together. The other end of the collar band is provided with an opening 9 through which the tongue 8 is projected, and a second tongue 8 is'stamped from the band and is adaptedto'be projected through the front button holes of any ordinary collar and secure the collar to 4 the collar band. band, a similar tongue 10 is formed by lar band or in other words in the collar band which when forced outwardly will provide a tongue similar to the tongue 8, and this tongue 10 is designed to be projected through the rear button hole of an ordinary collar.

By constructing t collar band of several thicknesses of material, the tongues 8 and 10 may be given the desired rigidity to; operate as effective attaching means, and mav be manipulated by the fingers to fasten and onfasten as desired.

While I have described my invention in connection with a collar band I would have it understood that it is capable of other uses, and I do not limitmyself to the particular use nor to the details of construction set forth, butconsider myself at liberty to make such changes and alterations as fairly fall within the spirit and scope of the appended claim.
