IMPROVEMENT IN LAND-ROLLERS. y

The Schedule referred toln these Letters Patent and making part ofthe same.

To all whom it may concern:

D, a strong box, inwhich stone may be placed, it'

In using a roller when the driver comes to the side or end of a field and desires to vturn his team around, if the roller is turned or swung around on the ground it leaves the ground rough land uneven at the spot where it was turned, scraping the top of the ground in a circle as the roller turns. It is desired to Yavoid this, and by my invention the tongue is permitted tO turn while the roller remains stationary. This is accomplished by the following-described device:

The tongue is constructed of awide plank or framework, with the box D thereon.

Whenvthe tongue B is in the positionshown in fig. l, t. e. at right angles to the roller R, the tongue, striking that portion of the'su'pports F F above the crosspiece N N, swings tlie supports oft' the ground in the position shown Vat TF, iig. 1.

When it is desired to turn the team around, as the tongue B swingsaround parallel with the roller the supports F F drop into thc position shown at Iig. 2, and. thereby prevent the roller from turning'Over-and throwingout the stone in the b ox D; and whenthe tongue is reversed, and again at right angles to the roller It, vthe supports are again lifted from the ground as described.

The tongue B is kept in a position at right angles v to the roller by a catch, S O, g. 2.

The point 'i of this catch passes into the cross-piece N N through a hole in the bottom of the box D.

S, g. l, shows the ,end of' the catch passing' up through the box D, where it may be pressed down by the foot` when it is desired to turn the tongue around.

What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure .by Letters Patent of the United States, isas follows, to wit:

1. The supports E F, constructed and Operated as described.

2. The combination of the roller R, the supports 'F F, the catch S, and the tongue B, when constructed as described, for the purposes set forth. v
