DAY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Polson, in the county of Flathead and State of Montana, have invented new and useful Improvements in Pipe-Fasteners, of which the following is a specification. 1 The present invention relates to pipe sustaining devices for the flues of chimneys,

In carrying out my invention itis my purpose to provide simple and effective means which are adapted to be-employed in the construction of an ordinary brick chimney and which are further adapted to support and maintain within the flue opening of the chimney the smoke pipe ,ofan rdi-' nary stove, v I also aimtoyprovide a device of this character which shall be'simple in construction, cheap to manufacture, and readily positioned so as to notinterfere with the laying of the bricks comprising the chimney but which will also form reinforcements for the chimney. t

It is also my purpose-to provide a pipe fastener which, shall be sustained between the courses of brick directly above and below. 'the'flue opening, the said fastener preferably comprising a pair of elements, each be-. ing formed from a single strand of wire, and each of the said strands having a portion which projects beyond the chimney breast, and which isprovided with an eye for the reception of the straightenedends of pipe engaging loops. Each of these membersfiii comprises an elongated arm 4- which has its free end bent to provide an eye 5, while its opposite end is bentat an angle to the member 4 and provides asubstantially U-shaped member 6, the end of which is continued in a plane with but at a suitable distance from the arm 4, and provides what I term the shorter arm 7 of the device. This arm has its extremity bent angularly toward the arm 4, and the said angular portion is looped around the said arm 4, as indicated by the numeral 8. As illustrated in the drawing, the tie'memhers are permanently secured betweenthe bricks whlch form the Wall of a chimneyabout the flue opening and are located on opposite sides of the said opening. Having thus described the invention, what I claim is;
