To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, HARnIsoN It. Mourns, a citizen of the United States, residing at Mapleton, in the county of Bourbon and State of Kansas, have invented a new and useful Window-Curtain Bod, of which the following is a specification.
The device forming the subject matter of this application is adapted to sustain a curtain holder in the form of a rod or tube, the construction being such that the device may be assembled with a window frame, door frame or the like, without the use of tools.
The invention aims to provide brackets of novel construction and adapted to receive the holder, and to provide a novel spring means whereby the brackets may be assembled with the window frame or other support.
With the above and other objects in view which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention herein disclosed can be made within the scope of what is claimed, without departing from the spirit of the inven tion.
In the accompanying drawings: Figure 1 shows the invention in top plan, portions of the supporting structure appearing in section; Fig. 2 is an elevation wherein the device is viewed in the direction of the arrow A of Fig. 1, the supporting structure being omitted; Fig. 3 is a cross section on the line of Fig. 2; Fig. 4 is a cross section on the line 4l l of Fig. 2; Fig. 5 is a transverse section of the holder, the view showing a slightly modified form thereof. Fig. 6 is a perspective showing a portion of one bracket.
Tn carrying out the present invention there is provided a holder which may be in the form of a rod 1, as shown in Fig. 1, or in the form of a tube 2 as shown in Fig. 5. The holder may be of any desired length, one end thereof being'rounded or pointed slightly as shown at 8. The other end of the holder is bent to form a rectangularly disposed arm a terminating in a short finger 5 disposed approximately parallel to the body portion of the holder 1.

fashioned from a single piece of material, preferably wire, the piece of material being bent upon itself to form a loop-shaped abutment 1?, the sides of which are rectangularly prolonged as shown at 18 and disposed in close relation to each other as indicated at 19. Beyond the parts 18, the constituent portions of the wire are extended rectangularly and are crossed as shown at 21, these parts being bulged, as shown at 20, to form a guiding eye. Beyond the point of crossing 21, the side portions of the strip of material are disposed in diverging relation as shown at 22 and subsequently are bent rectangularly to form arms 23 disposed approximately parallel to the parts 18, the arms 23 terminating in spaced fingers 2 1 having rectangularly arranged prongs 25 adapted to engage a support 26, which may be one side of a window frame.
The invention comprises a secondary bracket fashioned from a single piece of material, preferably wire, the piece of wire being bent and crossed upon itself to form a guiding eye 27, the point of crossing being indicated by the reference character 6. The side portions of the eye beyond the point of crossing are continued to form diverging extensions 7 which are rectangularly bent to form arms 8, the arms being extended to form overlapped oppositely extended prolongations 9 terminating in rectangularly disposed fingers 10, the fingers 10 being provided with prongs 11 adapted to engage a support 12 which may be one side of a window frame. The holder 1 passes through the guiding eye 27 of the secondary bracket, through the guiding eye 20 of the primary bracket, and the rounded or pointed end 3 of the support is received in the loop-shaped abutment 17, the same being contracted enough so that the holder or rod 10 will not slide therethrough.
The invention comprises a retractile spring 1e, one end of which is formed into a hook 15 engaged around the overlapped parts 9 of the secondary bracket to prevent relative movement therebetween. The other end of the spring 14: is fashioned to a hook 16 engaged around the arm 4: of the support 1 and prevented from sliding off the arm a by the finger 5.
In practical operation, the spring 14 tends to contract, thus holding the prongs 11 engaged with the support 12. The spring 1 1, further, tends to slide the holder 1 to the right, referring to Fig. 1, the end 3 of the holder being maintained in engagement with the abutment 17 the secondary bracket being forced to the right, so that its prongs 25 engage with the support 26.
From the foregoing it will be evident that by a simple operation, in which no tools are required, the structure forming the subject matter of this application may be assembled readily with a window frame and with equal facility be detached therefrom.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed is 1. In a device of the class described, a primary bracket and a secondary bracket, the brackets being provided at their adjacent ends with inwardly extended support engaging means, the primary and secondary brackets being provided respectively at their remote ends with an outwardly projecting abutment and an outwardly projecting guiding eye; a holder received slidably in the eye and held by the abutment against endwise movement; and a spring forming an operative connection between the holder and the secondarv bracket.

In a device of the class described, a primary bracket and a secondary bracket, the brackets being provided at their adjacent ends with inwardly projecting support engaging means, the primary bracket and the secondary bracket being provided, respectively at their remote ends with an abutment and a guiding eye; a holder engaging the abutment against endwise movement and received slidably in the eye, the holder being provided with an offset arm adjacent the guiding eye; and a retractile spring forming an operative connection between the arm and the secondary bracket.
3. In a device of the class described, a primary bracket provided with support engaging means and having an abutment; a secondary bracket fashioned from a single piece of material bent upon itself to form a guiding eye, arms, and support-engaging means on the arms; a holder slidable in the eye and held against endwise movement by the abutment of the primary bracket; and a retractile spring forming a connection between the secondary bracket and the holder.
4. In a device of the class described, a primary bracket fashioned from a single piece of material bent upon itself to form an abutment, a guiding eve located in front of the abutment, arms projecting beyond the guiding eye, and angularly disposed supporting engaging means at the ends of the arms; a secondary bracket; a holder slidable in the secondary bracket, one end of the holder passing through the guiding eye and engaging the abutment; and a spring forming an operative connection between the holder and the secondary bracket.
