To all whom it may concern:

The said shaft 14 Be it known that we, ALEXANDER Lamin- MAN, Jr, a subject of the King of Sweden, and resident of Villa Alexandra, Lernm, in the Kingdom .of Sweden, and VIo'ron NArHANAEL LANDQVIST, a subject of the King of Sweden, and resident of Drottninggatan 50, Gottenborg, in the Kingdom of Sweden, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Platen PrintingPresses and the like, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings.
This invention relates to printing presses,
especially of the type which operates en tirely automatically. ln the said printing presses the paper is fed to the oscillating platen and removed from the same by gripper shaped, oscillating transporters, adapted for the purpose. Printing presses of the said type must be so arranged that the movement of the main parts just mentioned are as soft as possible and are effected Without shocks and without more than one main shaft being used in the press and without the use of eccentrics and the like.
The object of this invention is to so arrange the presses, that they work in the manner just described.
Figure 1 in the accompanying drawings is an end view of a printing press arranged in accordance with this invention. Fig. 2 is a plan View of the press. Fig. 3 shows the parts in a difierent position.
The main parts of the press consist of the support 1 for the form, the platen2, carried by the arms 3 and oscillating around the shaft or the ins i, the inkin device with the slide 5, t e feed table 6 or the paper sheets to be printed, the table 7 receiving the rinted paper sheets, the transporter 8, oscilating around the shaft 9 and moving the paper sheets from the table 6 to the platen, and the transporter 10, oscillating around the shaft 11 and moving the printed aper sheets from the platen to the table 7. rinting presses of the said type are before known and for that reason some of the parts mentioned above are shown only schematically. The means for actuating the movable parts, especially the parts 5, 8 and differs however from those before known. The neces-T sar movements are transmitted from the main shaft 12, which rotates the shaft 14 is provided at the ends of the machine with crank disks 15, 15, which at the same time form members of the said spur gears. The said crank disks actuate the platen 2 by means of the pitmen 16. The crank pin 17 of one of the crank disks is provided with a pin 18, which by means of the pitman 19 is connected with the lever arm 20, loosely mounted on the shaft 9. The said lever arm 21. The said arm 22 is fixed to the shaft 23, to which an arm 24 is fixed, which is connected with the slide 5 of the inking dc vice, the reciprocating upward and downward motion being thus imparted to the said slide. The link 21 is connected with an arm 26 by the link 25, which arm 26 is fixed to the shaft 9, motion being thus imparted to the transporter 8. At the opposite side of the machine the shaft 11 is provided with an arm 27, which by the pitman 28 is connectcd with a crank pin 29 provided on the opposite crank disk and similar to the crank pin 18, motion being thus imparted to the transporter 10. The motions imparted to the diilerent parts are easily seen by a comparison between Figs. 1 and 3.
Owing to the fact that the parts and 26 have the same center, but one 20 of the parts can swing freely on the shaftS), and owing to the fact that the parts 19 and 21 are connected with the-lever arm 20 at different points, the necessary rapid motion is imparted to the transporter 8, first down ward and then upward in front of the platen and past the same. During the said movement the transporter seizes the top sheet of the p le located on the table 6 and delivers the same during its upward stroke to the returned and again advancing platen.
table 7. The parts 20 and 26 may, however, be provided on different shafts and the link 25 may be connected with an arm projecting laterally from the arm 20 and provided for the purpose. The arrangement shown in the drawings is'however preferred, because it is more simple and operates in. a more reliable manner.
The invention may be applied also to ruling machines, folding machines and the like.
Having now described our invention, What we claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. In an actuating mechanism for automatic platen printing presses and the like the combination of a crank disk (15), actuating the platen, a lever arm (20), a pitman (-19), transmitting motion from the said crank disk to the said lever arm, an inking mechanism includingan inking slide, a link and lever arm mechanism (21 to 24 inclusive), connecting the said lever arm (20) with the inking slide of the inking mechanism, a transporter (8) and a link and lever arm mechanism (25, 26), which connects the. r
said lever arm (20) with the transporter (8), feeding the paper to the platen, substantiallyas described and for the purpose set forth.

In an actuating mechanism for automatic platen printing presses and the like the combination of crank disks (15), actuating the platen, a lever arm (20), a pitman (19), transmitting motion from one of thesaid crank disks to the said lever arm, an inking mechanism including an inking slide, a link and lever arm mechanism (21 to 2 1 inclusive), connecting the said lever arm (20) with the inking slide of the inking mechanism, a transporter (8), a link and lever arm mechanism (25, 26), which connects the said lever arm (20.) with the transporter (8), feeding the paper to the platen, and a link and lever arm mechanism (27, 28),.connecting the other of the said crank disks with the transporter (10) moving the paper sheet from the platen, substantially as described and for the purpose set forth.
