To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that T, DANIEL Vonnrnn, a citizen of the United States, residing at Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Trusses, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to improvements in trusses and the special feature involved contemplates the use of a plurality of supplementary arc-shaped steel members adapted to be removably placed in that portion of the truss 011 which the pads are supported, and in combination with the aforesaid supplementary members are truss pads provided with rigid metal reinforcing baekings. The said backings are slidably adjusted to said supplementary members and are held thereby more or less rigidly in position. These supplementary steel members are slightly curved to coincide with the curvature of the body of the wearer and are adjusted in such a manner that they may be readily removed without disengaging the truss from the body of a person, at such times as may be desirable, as for instance, upon retiring at night, or reclining in an easy position during the day.

lVith the above and other objects in view my invention consists in the arrangement, combination, and details of construction clearly shown in the drawings and then more particularly pointed out in the appended. claims.

user to administer more satisfactorily to his comfort. The pocket 3 may be enlarged upon to accommodate the desired number of these strips. One or more soft pads, two being shown at 4 and 6, carry strap members 5 and 7 respectively, which slide upon the stiffened portion 2 of the truss or girdle. The pads may be of any approved construction and, as shown, each consists of a convex body filled with hair, feathers, or the like to give it a soft hearing. The pads are arranged to slide along the inner side of the member 2 and are connected through the straps 8 and 9 to suitable buckle attachments slidably engaging the elastic belt or girdle 1. Pocket 3 of said belt is formed with a loop for the buckle 14-, which is incased by the pivotal bearing of a gripping tongue having fluted sides 18 fitting over the side bars 16 of said buckle and a bearing surface formed with a serrated edge 17. The free end 2 of said elastic band will be passed through the buckle 14 and will overlie the bearing surface of said tongue whose serrations will cause it to bind against the roller 15 on said buckle By means of this buckle the belt or girdle may be adjusted in length.

The free ends of the straps 8 and 9 may be fastened to buckles 28 of the conventional type. Looped straps 22 slidably engage the elastic portion of said girdle and secured to each at the inner side of said, belt are pads 20 and 21, into connection with which the straps 22 have their ends riveted, a looped strap 24: being linked to the strap 22 for the free end of the strap 8. A similar pad 19 is secured. at one end of the buckle device 14 at the inner side of the elastic belt 1.

Having described my invention that which I claim to be new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:

1. A truss consisting of a belt having a longitudinal pocket, therein, open at one end, a plurality of fiat metal springs in said pocket, said springs being substantially the width of said belt, said springs being independent and removable from said pocket, and pads horizontally slidable over the spring containing port-ion of said belt 2. A truss consisting of a belt having a longitudinal pocket therein, open at one end, a plurality of flat metal springs in said pocket, said springs being substantially the width of said belt, said springs being independent and removable from said pocket pads horizontally slidable over the spring containing portion of said belt.

3. A truss consisting of a belt having a longitudinal pocket therein open at one end, a plurality of flat Inetal springs in said pocket, said springs being substantially the Width of said belt, said springs being independent and removable from said pocket, and pads horizontally slidable over the spring containing portion of said belt, said belt being formed of an elastic and a nonelastic section.
