Letters Patent No. 109,857, dated December 6, 1870. 4
IMPROVEMENT in THE PROCESS OFSEPARATING THE HAIR FROM THE WARP m HAIR- CLOTH. I I
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.
v I, DAVID WHr'rELEY, of Providence, Rhode Island, have invented a certain Process for Separating the Hair from the Warp in 'HaipOlot-h, of whichthe following is a specificatioln Take of sulphuric acid one part and of soft water nine parts mix well, and soak the hair-cloth in the liquid until the same is entirely saturated.
Then place the cloth in a dry-room or oven, and
laring the heat gradually up to 130 Fahrenheit, at which degree the room or oven should be kept for thirty-six hours. 1
- The fabric is then in condition to be run between draw-rollers, when-the warp will fall away in the formof' dust, and thehair be left entirely uninj ured.
I do not claim the rollers, as any similar device will accomplish the result;- but my invention consists in the mixture of the ingredients and the degree of heat,- as well as ,the length of time to'which the clotlrmust be exposed to separate the hair and warp.
O Roi-m.
What I claim as my invention is- The process .of applying sulphuric acid and heat to V hair-cloth, for the purpose of separating the hair from the warp in hair-cloth, substantially as above described.
