Be it known that I, Josnen F. BAKER, a citizen 'of the United States, residing at Barberton, in the county of Summit, State of Ohio, have invented certain new and use ful Improvements in Crumb-Trays; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

This invention relates to crumb trays and has for an object to provide a device of this character having the leading edge rebent upon itself to provide a resilient flange that facilitates the tray gliding smoothly over the surface of the floor or table while at the same time no sharp edges are roduced to mutilate the car et or table clot A further ob ect of the invention is to provide a yieldafily mounted revoluble brush adapted to effectively sweep the crumbs into the tray.

With the above objects in view the invention consists of certain novel details of construction and combination of parts hereinafter fully described and claimed, it being understood that various modifications may be made in the minor details of construction within the scope of the appended claims.

In the accompanying drawing illustrating this invention :Figure 1 is a side elevation of a crumb tray embodying my improvements. Fig. 2 is a plan view. Fig. 3 is a longitudinal sectional view on the line 33 Fig. 2. Fig. 4 is an underneath plan view of the tray.

Referring now to the drawing in which like characters of reference designate similar parts, the tray is shown to comprise a bottom 10, side walls 11, and a rear wall 12, the leading edge of the bottom being rebent to present a flange 13 whichfextends at a slight angle to the bottom and is designed to bear flat upon the carpet or table cloth from which. it is desired to remove crumbs,'the flange being resilient incharacter so that any desired pressure may be exerted upon the tray to promote the proper operation of the tray under all :onditions of service, said flange furthermore being curved at its juncture with the bottom of the tray whereby no sharp projections exist to mutilate the carpet or tablecloth while at the same time the smooth gliding of the tray is promoted.

A pair of forwardly projecting resilient arms 14 are secured to the leading edges of the sides 11 of the tray and journaled for rotation in these arms is a brush 15 that is equipped at one end with a rubber or similar roller 16 that bears upon the carpet or table cloth and holds the brush at a uniform height therefrom, the resilient arms 14 yielding under pressure upon the tray to permit of the roller functioning properly.

' In operation the tray is advanced along the carpet or table cloth from which it is desired to remove crumbs, the brush being rotated by frictional engagement of the roller and bristles with the carpet or tablecloth,

and.during such rotation of the brush the crumbs are brushed back into the tray.

From the above description it will be seen that I have provided an extremely simple and inexpensive. crumb removing tray that will be strong and durable, will effectively operateupon delicate fabrics without mutilating the same, and finallywill be formed of a few parts that will not easily get out of order.

What is claimed, is

1. A crumb removing tray having the leading edge of the bottom rebent and prowhereby no sharp edges exist and whereby the smooth gliding of the tray over the support from which the crumbs are to be removed is assured, and a rotary brush carried by said tray in advance'of the leading edge of the bottom and adapted to brush the crumbs into said tray.
