To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, THURE CARLSON, a citizen of the United States, residing at Moline, in the county of Rock Island and State of Illinois, have invented new and useful Improvements in Crib-Beds, of which the following is a specification.

This invention is an improved folding crib which is adapted to be attached to and supported on one side by an ordinary bedstead and to be detached therefrom at will, the invention consisting in the construction, combination and arrangement of devices hereinafter described and claimed.

In the accompanying drawings :Figure 1 is an end elevation of a folding crib bed attachment constructed in accordance with my invention, showing the same set up and attached to a side rail of an ordinary bedstead, the latter being indicated, partly in section. Fig. 2 is an end elevation of the folding crib showing the same folded and detached from the bedstead. Fig. 3 is a side elevation of the folding crib, showing it set up. Fig. 4 is a plan of a portion of the same in set up position in full lines and in folded position in dotted lines. Fig. 5 is a detail perspective view of an attaching bracket which may be used when the crib is to be attached to a wooden bedstead or to some other supporting object. Fig. (3 is a detail sectional view of one corner of the crib on the plane indicated by the line 6 6 of Fig. 3, and illustrating the construction of one of the standard brackets. Fig. 7 is a detail perspective View of one of the standard brackets with one of the bottom flaps thereof in inclined position and as in the act of being bent to cause its opening to be engaged by the eye of the other bottom flap.

The frame 1 of my improved folding crib comprises outer and inner side bars 2-3 and end bars 4:, the latter extending inwardly from the bar 3 as at 5. Hooks 6 are secured on and extend from the inner end of the end bars and are adapted to engage over an angle iron side bar of an ordinary iron bedstead such as indicated at a in Fig. 1 to enable the frame of the crib to be detachably secured to the side bar of the bedstead and to be supported at the inner side by said side bar. Supporting legs '7 are at the outer corners of the frame and are pivotally connected at their upper ends as at 8 so that they can be folded under the frame when not in use. Links 9, which also form braces, are pivotally connected to the end bars and to the legs, each of the said brace links comprising a pair of members 110-11 pivotally connected together as at 12, whereby the brace links are also adapted to be folded, and the members 10 of the brace link having catches 13 which are adapted to engage over the upper edges of the members 11 when the brace links are extended. The hooks (3 have standards 14 formed at their inner ends. At the outer corners of the frame are standard brackets 15 each having angularly related walls 16-17, the former higher than the latter. Each standard bracket is made from a piece of sheet or plate metal and bent into form and each wall 16 has a bottom flap 18 formed therewith and bent therefrom and provided with an opening 19 and each wall 17 has a bottom flap 20 formed therewith and underlapped by the flap 18, and provided with an eye 21 which extends down through the opening 19 and is engaged by the pintle pin 22 of the hinge or pivot connection 8 of one of the legs 7. These angle brackets have their walls 1617 respectively secured to the outer sides of the bars 4 and 2 of the frame 1 and the flaps 18 of said standard bracket are secured to the bottom of said bar 2.

At the ends of the crib are rails 23 each of which has a bottom bar 24, a top bar 25 and connecting rungs 26. The bottom bar of each end rail has one end pivotally mounted as at 27 on one of the standards 14 and the other end pivotally mounted as at 28 in a bearing in the wall 17 of one of the standard brackets. The top bars 25 are provided at their outer ends with pivot-ed hooks 29. There is also a side rail 30 which comprises a bottom bar 31, a top bar 32 and rungs 33. The bottom bar has pivots 34: at its cnds which have their bearings in the walls 16 of the standard bracket and the top bar 32 has headed studs 35 at its ends for engagement by the hooks 29 when the rails are set up and so that the rails may be connected together at their upper sides and above the outer corners of the crib frame. After the hooks 29 have been disengaged, the end rails may be folded inwardly on the bottom of the crib and the side rails may be then folded inwardly on the end rails so that the crib with its frame, hinged legs and pivotally mounted side and end rails may be readily compactly folded and disposed in small space.

hen the crib bed attachment is to be secured to one side of an ordinary wooden bedstead or to a wall or other support, a pair of supporting brackets 36 such as shown in detail in Fig. 5 may be secured to the support and engaged by the hooks 6.

I claim In a folding crib of the class described a frame, a standard bracket at certain corners of the frame, each standard bracket having walls at the ends and outer side of the frame and provided with hearing openings for members of end and side rails, each standard bracket being also provided with overlapping bottom flaps integral wit-h and at the lower sides of its walls, the upper bottom flaps being provided with a downwardly extending eye having an opening, the lower bottom flap having an opening to receive said eye, and supporting legs for the corners of the crib and having pivotal connections at their upper ends, and pintle pins engaging said pivot connections and passing through the said openings of the eyes of the upper bottom flaps.
