essee?) Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Apr. 1%, 1914.
Application filed November 5, 1913. Serial No. 799,260.
' To all whom, it may concern In the accompanying drawing: Figure 1 is a front View of a display stand embodying my invention: Fig. 2 a rear view thereof; 3 a rear view showing the parts in a F1 dierent position; Fig. 4 an edge view'on'a" reduced scale showing the device folded,
and Fig. 5a longitudinal section of Fig. 3.
The device comprises essentially a face plate 10 of suitable ornamental configuration, and adapted to be folded along a transverse scored line 11, which is reinforced by a strip of webbing 12. To the rear side of face plate 10, there is pasted or otherwise secured a smaller back plate 13 which is adapted to constitute a prop, and which is provided for that purpose on each side with an integral foldable wing 14, said wing be' ing disconnected from the face plate and adapted to stand off the same at an angle. From each edgeof the back plate proper there extends a hook 15 made integral therewith, and adapted to be turned into a horizontal position on a lower scored line 16f Hook 15 is accommodated'by a corresponding aperture 17 of wing 14 '(Fig. 2) and when the device is to be set up, each wingis turned backward, and then hook 15 is turned down, so as to pass through the aperture and engage the outer face of the wing (Fig. 3) thus locking the wing at an angle to the face plate 10.' In this way the'wings will furnish a base or prop for the device, by means of which it will be sustained in an upright position. on a counter or similar support.
Above the scored line 11, the back plate 13, together with its wings 14 is entirely detached from the face plate, to form a horizontal flap 18 whichis foldable along a transverse scored line 19, that registers with line 11. Flap 18 is provided with an eye 20, through which extends a turn button 21 pivoted to the upper foldable section 10 of face plate 10, as 'at 22, and slightly set oil from the same by a block 23.
When the device is to be folded, the turn back plate can be doubled conjointly with the face plate, while when the device is unfolded the turn button is caused to engage the flap and lock the backplate. to the face plate, so that in this way the upper foldable section 10 of the face late, willbe likewise sustained in an uprig t position uponthe spreading of the wings 14 into the position shown in Figs. 3 and thereto, the drawing showing it to carry U shaped clasps 24, which-are more particu-' larly adapted for the reception of harmonicas, though other suspending or sustaining devicesmay obviously be employed.
