Description

@adinet iate ainrt (effin GEORG W. BISHOP, OF BALTIMORE, MARYLAND, ASSIGNOR TO IIIMSELF AND JOHN MCFARLAND, OF SAME PLACE.
Letters Patent No. 109,106, dated November 8, 1870.
IMPROVEMENT IN NECK-TlE FASTENINGS.
a The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.
To all whom it may concern: p
' Be it known that I, GEORGE W. Bisnor, of Baltimore, in the county of Baltimore and in 'the State of Maryland, have invented certa-in new and useful Im- ,provements in Neck-tie Fastening; and do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact dcscription thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawing and to the letters .of reference marked thereon making a part of this specification.
The nature of my invention consists in the construction and arrangement of a neck-tie fastening, as will be hereinafter fully set fort-h.
I n order-to enable others skilled in the art to which my invention appertains to makehand use the same, I will new proceed to describe its construction and operation, referring to the annexed drawing, in which- Figure l is a transverse vertical section, and
Figure 2 is a front view of vmy improved neck-tie fastclung.
A represents a plate, ent ont and lient in proper Vshape to be inserted under the turned-down portion of the collar.
lhe wings of this plate maybe made solid, if so desire?, but I prefer making then as shown in the draw ingr that is, slotted or cutout, so as to be merely a frame..
I '1 thecenter ofthe plate A are-two holes, aw', and at the lower edge is a notch, b.
l'. represents a hook made of spring wire, having a ring or loop, (Z, formed at one end, in which the rubber loop C is fastened.
rlhe tie is folded around the plate A, and the hook B passed through the tie Iand through the lower hole a, from the front side.
The point of the hook is then passed through the upper hole d', as shown in iig. l, securing the tie to the date. l, The ring l on the other end of the hook B then catches in the notch b of the plate, and when the rubber loop Gis placed on the shirt-button andthe wings of the plat-e inserted under the turn'-do\vn portion of the collar, it is securely held in position.
The ends of the tie are then folded across the front, completely hiding the hook B from view.
Having thus fully described my invention,
That I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
.lhe plate A, provided with holes (a a and notch 71, used in combination with the spring-,hook B and loop C, substantially as and for the purposes. herein set forth.
. 1n testimony that I cla-im the foregoing, I have hereunto set my hand this 28th dafy of September,
GEORGE W. BISHOP. Witnesses C.' L. Evnn'r,
A. N. MARR.
