To all whom it may concern.

Be it known that I, ELLSWORTII A. Haw- THOR-NE, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Bridgeport, in the county of Fairfield and State of Connecticut, have invented an Improvement in Lighting Appa- -atus, of which the following description, in

the accompanying drawings, 1s a specification, like characters on the drawings representing like parts. This invention relates to lighting apparatus, and'morc especially, though not exclusively, motor cycles and other vehicles, and when so employed, shows ared rear light, and illuminates a number plate with a white light. y

My invention will be best understood by reference to the following specification, when taken in connection with-the accompanying drawings of one illustrative embodiu'ient thereof, while its scope will be more particularly pointed. out int-lie appended claims.

This forms an exceedingly simple, convenient and eiiective means for mounting the red jewel in the lamp casing in such a manner that it may be removed in a moments time to allow the user to avail himself of the White light. This may be done when the motor-cyclist Wishes to make an examination or repairs of the mechanism of the motor-cycle, and in such casesfhe simply removes the red jewelas described, and detaches the lamp and battery, merely removing thev strap 17, as hereinbefore described. Having thus described my invention, what I claim and desire by Letters Patent to procure is ze- 1. In a lighting apparatus,-the combination with a supporting bracket, of an electrio lamp, a lamp-casing, a battery, a battery-casing, a member to whichsaid casings are attached, and means for .detachably at' taching said member to said supporting bracket at two points, said'battery casing being disposed between said points and embraced by said member and said bracket.

In a lighting apparatus, the combina-' tion with a supporting'bracket, of an electriclamp, a lamp-casing, a battery, a bat tery-casing, an attaching member partially encircling said battery-casing and to which said lamp-casing is attached, and means for I attaching said attaching member to said supporting bracket.

' 3. In a lighting apparatus, the combination with a supporting bracket, of an electric lamp, a lamp-casing, abattery, a battei'y-casing, an attaching member holding said casings and interlocked at one pointwith said bracket, and attaching'means'for attaching said member at another point to said bracket.

4:. In a lighting apparatus, the combination with a supporting bracket, of an electric lamp, a lan1p-casing,-a battery, a battery-casing, an attaching member partially encircling said batterycasing, extending between said casings and attached to said lamp-casing, said member having one end interlocked with said bracket, and means for securing theother end of said member to: said bracket.

In a lighting apparatus, the combinatie! with a supporting bracket, of anelectric lamp, a lamp-casing, a battery, a battery-casing,'.an' attaching member'partially encircling said battery-casing and extend- 'ing between said casings, said lamp having a screw-threaded part extending through said lamp-casing, attaching member and bat-C .tery-casing into electrical connection with said battery, and means for attaching said member to saidbracket. v

In a lightiiig apparatus, the combina tion with a supporting bracket; of an electric lamp, a lamp-casing, a battery, a bat-' tery-casing, and an attaching member secured to said lamp-casing and forming a with said bracket a clamp for clamping said battery-casing.
