MARC CHALIER, F PARIS, FRANCE.
REFLECTGR-ARM FOR ELECTRIC LAMPS.
Application filed March 5, 191 2..
city of Paris, in the French Republic, have invented a new and useful Reflector-Arm for Electric Lamps, of which the following is a specification.
y invention has relation to a portable and adjustable appliance for application to an article of furniture provided with an electric lamp mounted in a slotted reflecting tube or cylinder and arranged in such a manner that illumination derived from the lamp is concentrated'in any required direction; and in such connection my invention relates to the particular construction and arrangement of such an appliance adapted for said purpose.
My invention consists of an appliance for reflecting and concentrating the illumination derived from an electric lamp, constructed and arranged in the manner hereinafter described and claimed.
The nature and characteristic features of my invention will be more fully understood from the following description taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings,
forming part thereof, and in which Figure 1 is a longitudinal section of the complete lamp carrier; Fig. 2, a correspond ing sectional plan; and Fig. 3, an enlarged section of the lamp holder on the line A A of Fig. 1.
The reflector or shade is of cylindrical form with eccentric cylindrical open ends and a rectangular flaring opening 2. The shade is fitted in a well known manner with a knuckle joint carried at the end of a telescopic arm which carries the electric leads for the lamp'17 but according to my invention, the sald arm is mounted in a tubular receiver or arm connected with a swiveling knuckle joint. This joint consists of a. fas- Specification of Letters Eatent.

tening plate 3 fitted with a projecting pin or stud 1 to serve as a pivot for a wing 5 formed with a lug to engage between the fork 6 of the receiver or arm 7, said fork and lug being articulated by a pin or bolt 8. The receiver or arm 7 carries the usual 1101- low telescopic arm.9 which can be fixed by the screws 10 and which by the usual parts 11, 12 and 13 is articulated to the shade of the lamp. The two leads 14, 15 enter and leave the arm 9 by spaces provided in the forked ends 6 and 11 respectively whence they separately pass through guide tubes 16 longitudinally fixed to the exterior of the shade 1 and then enter a radial passage in each holder 18 so as to be clamped to the metallic sleeve 19 by a nut 21. The electric current passes through the sleeve 19 to a spring-pressed contact-plunger 20 as is well known in the art. The holder 18 may be safely retained in the ends of the shade 1 by means of a bayonetjoint 18.
I claim In an electric reflector lamp for music stands, the combination with each other of a tubular lamp having its end sockets engaged'in socketed holders carrying screwthreaded metallic contact sleeves fitted with spring-pressed pins, a cylindrical shade formed with a rectangular flared opening and eccentrical cylindrical ends to receive the said holders, a knuckle joint on said shade, a hollow telescoping arm articulated to the knuckle joint and carrying electric leads for the lamp, a tubular swivel arm surrounding the telescoping arm, and a swiveling" knuckle joint at the end of said tubular swivel arm, as set forth.
