A IMPROVEMENT |N EAvEs-TRuel-i FAsTENER's.
The-Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part: of'the same.
the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof', reference being had to the accompanying drawing and to the letters of reference marked thereon, making a part ofthis specification.
The nature of our invention consists iu the construction and' arrangement of an caves-trough fastener;7 whereby eaves-troughs can 'be attached to the roof or shingles without nailing, and at the same time with less trouble, and more durable than the fastenupward, and ou its outer side provided with ratchet# teeth, as seen in iig. 2.
The upper clasp, O, is curved, as lseen in g. 3, the end bearing on top of the shingles being toothed, and tlxeoutcr end resting on the bar B, 'immediately inside ofthe bent-up end.
'lhe lower clasp, D, is also curved, as shownm g. 4, the end bearing ou the under side being toothed,
and the upper endhaving ratchet-teeth on vits inner side, to it iu the ratchet-teeth on the bar B.
A screwbolt, a, having a large head, is passed through the clasps C D, and bent-up portionl of the bar B, the head being on the inside, and the hole in the lower clasp D, through whichthe bolt'passes, being elongated. On the bolt a is placed a metal strap,vE, attached at its lower end to a transverse* rod, G, iu the eaves- *trough H. l
On each side ofthe strap E, ou the bolta,1 s placed a washer, b, andthena set-nut, d, screwed on the bolt, which secures the strap and also fastens .the clasps firmly tothe roof.
The trough H can be raised and lowered at will by the strap E, and by loosening the set-nut l the clasps can be easily taken off.
Having thus fully described our'iuveution,
IVhat we claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, isy 1. The .bent bar B, and clasps O D, constructed as` described, substantially as and for the purposes herein set forth. p
2. In combination with the bar B and' clasps 'C l), the headed bolt a, washers b b, set-nut d, and strap E, all constructed and arranged substantially as and .for the purposes herein set fort-l1.
