citizen of the United States. residing at Pary kersburg. in the county of W'ood and State 1 of est Virginia. have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Cigwir-Moisteners. of which the following is a specification.

My improvement relates to cigar and to bacco moistening means.

One object is to provide a simple and inexpensive article of the above mentioned class to be manufactured in several different sizes and cross sectional shapes. the most important and useful of which will be designed for travelers wherein a neat, coinpact and eflicint device will be much appreciated.

A further object is to provide a moistening means for cigars wherein the receptacle for the moistening medium may' be adjusted longitudinally for the various lengths of cigars. and which will include a simple arrangement whereby undue moisture is obviated.

The improvement consists broadly. in one instance. of a perforated container for a moistening pad. and further, of a receptacle of advantageous construction having the container convenientlv mounted therein.

In the application of my idea. the perforated container could be made in v uitable forms to fit various types of cigar cases to provide a false bottom for the latter and upon which the cigars in boxes could he placed.

The manufacture of this article will be very cheap as it can be made erclnsively by blanking and forming dies of siock sizes and shapes. It will be very useful and convenient for cigar smokers by reason of'its telescopic principles any size cigars may be accommodated and the degree of moisture regulated by simply moving the two members of the outer receptacle until the air holes or Tents aforementioned register or by returning them to a staggered position.

The space occupied by the spring retainer acts as an air space between the moistener and the cigars, and also prevents the cigars from coming in direct contact with the moistener should the humidor be laid on its side or be inadvertently placed up side down.

Having described my invention, I claim:

1. In combination with a receptacle, a telescopic container for a moistening pad, a spring mounted Within the said container, the said spring extending through openings in the side Walls of the telescopic container members in a manner container for the to support the said moistener by reason of its bearing against the walls of the'said receptacle.

In a removable container for a moistening means, the combination of a compressible spring mounted Within the said container, two flanged telescopic members provided with openings in'their side walls or flanged portions and forming the s id container, and a connecting means for he said members, the above mentioned spri pro trading through the saidopenings 1n the side walls of the telescopic members.

3. In combination with a receptacle, of a spring retained container for a moistening means, the said container foraied top and bottom annular flanged members one member being slidably mounted within. the other-in a manner to'form a spring retaining space between the perforated portions of the said members, said space serving to receive a spring, and as an air space between the moistening pador means and the contents of the receptacle.
