To enable others skilled in the art to which my improvement appertains to make and use my invention, l will now give a detailed description thereof'.
1n the uccompaiiying drawing which makes a part ot' this specification--` i Figure 1 is arertical section ut' thc impl-'ered burner, on all enlarged scale.
lfigure 2 is a like riew ot` the pillar A.
llgnre 3 is a side elevation o1' the cap B,
Figure d is a like View of the nipple (l.
Lilie letters in all the igurcs indicate the same parts.
A' is the pillar, which has a central opening, a, provided with a screw-thread, b, for connecting it with the gas-pipe in the usual manner.
the screw-stem d, and the nipple C is conne ted in The cap B is' connected with the pillar by nians of crewlike manner with the cap by means ot' the steine.
The pieces A 15 U, as shown detached in gs. 2, 3, and 4, are at right angles to their position in iig. 1.
The cap B has a central hole, f, which extends nearly to the lower end of'thc stem, at which point it met by the opening g.
This oienin wheuthe cai is screwed' down ti ht in to the posit-ion it 'assumes in lie. Il, communicates with the recess h in the side ofthe central opening'of the pillar, so as to admit of the passage ot' the gas to the nipple,as illustra-ted by the arrows. y
The tlow of vgas is regulated by turning the cap B in a reverse direction, so as toy cut oti, more or less, the eorniminication between the opening g of thecentral hollow screw-stem (l, ou theside recess of the pillar A.
Whatl claim as my invent-ion, and desire to secure by Letters latent, isl The recess hin the side ot' the central screw-hole u of the pillar A, in combination with the opening g of the screw-stein d of the cap B, the said parts being` constructed and arranged in relation to'each other, substantially as 'and for the purpose set forth.
In testimony that the above is my invention, 1- have hereunto set my hand und affixed my seal this Sth day of August, ]S70.
