ICE-GREAM-FREEZER HOLDER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Jan. 27, 1914.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FERDINAND L. Tonr- PERWEIN, a citizen of the United States, residing at San Antonio, in the county of BeXar and State of Texas, have invented a new and useful Ice-Cream-Freezer Holder, of which the following is a specification.
The device forming the subject matter of thisapplication is adapted to be applied to ice cream freezers and like structures, for the purpose of securing the same to a table or other support during the process of freezing the cream.
One object of the present invention is to provide a frame of novel and improved form, adapted to be connected with the re,- ceptacle, the frame having novel means for engaging the receptacle, and for engaging a support.
The invention aims to provide a device of this type which may be securely assembled with the bottom of a freezer, without causing a splitting of the bottom of the tub.
VVith'the foregoing and other objects in View, which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention herein disclosed can be made within the scope of what is claimed without departing from the spirit of the invention.
In the accompanying drawing :Figure 1 shows the invention in side elevation, applied to a support and to a freezer tub, parts appearing in section; Fig. 2 shows the table and top engaging member in perspective; Fig. 3 is a bottom plan; and Fig. 4 is a fragmental side elevation, showinga slight modification in the invention.
In the drawings, the numeral 1 indicating generally, the tub of a freezer, the numeral 2 indicating the side wall of the tub and the numeral 3 indicating the bottom of the tub. For a purpose to be hereinafter set forth, the lower edge of the side wall 2 is notched, as indicated at 4. V
The invention further includes a frame -which is shown in detail in Fig. :2, the
frame comprising an upper arm 5 and a lower arm 6, the same being connected by a standard 7. Ifdesired, the upper arm 5 may be U-shaped, and preferably the arm 5 is tapered, or wedge-shaped. At the base of the arm 5 there is a transversed head 8 having a recess 9 in its inner face. The arm 6 is bifurcated as shown at 10 and in the bifurcations 10 is upheld a shaft 11 and constituting a pivotal support for a cam 12, having an operative handle 14. A socket 15 is secured in any desired manner to the bottom 3 of the tub 1,.in alinement with the notch 4.
In practical operation, the tapered arm 5 is inserted into the notch 4 and into the socket 15, the tapered arm 5 engaging wedge wise between the socket 15 and the bottom 3 of the tub. It is to be noted that the head 8 engages the outer face of the side wall 2 of the tub to limit inward movement of the arm 5 within the socket 15. Consequently, although the arm 5 may be thrust into the socket l5 sufliciently to secure a firm hold, the arm 5, nevertheless, cannot be thrust into the socket 15 sufficiently to cause a bursting or bulging of the bottom 3 of the tub. hen the parts are assembled as above described, the tub 1 is placed upon a table 16 or like support, the edge of the table 16 being received within the recess 9 which is fashioned in the inner face head 8. The cam 12 may be rotated by means of the operating handle 14 to engage the under face of the table 16, and thus the tub will be securely held against sliding movement.
It is within the scope of the invention to replace the cam member 12-14 by a screw, as shown in Fig. 4, the arm 6 being altered accordingly.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed is In a device of the class described, a frame comprising in'a one piece structure, a lower arm, a standard connected to the lower arm, a transverse head connected to the standard and an upper arm projecting from the head; the head having a recess in its inner face, defining a shoulder located below the upper arm and adapted to engage the edge of a support; and clamping means in the lower In testimony that I claim the foregoing as arm cooperating With the support to bind my own, I have hereto afiixed my signature the shoulder against the support, the upper in the presence of two Witnesses.
arm being upwardly inclined from its point FERDINAND L. TOEPPERWEIN. of connection With the head to its free end Witnesses:
thereby to impose the clamping strain on M. W. DAVIS,
the shoulder. MAX I'rz.
