doors. The button may thus be used with a door thatextends beyond the casing, or equallyY well with a casing that extends beyond the door.
By constructing the button, as shown, so that the spring portion will adapt itself to different relative thicknesses of door and casing, spring gripping of the door is secured, thus always holding the door tightly 1,085,277. Patented Jan. 27, 1914.
Serial No. 778,502.
To all iti/10m fit may concern,
Bc it known that I, FRANK T. IJUND, a citizen of the United States, residing at Sturgeon Lake, in the county of Pine and State of Minnesota, have invented certain neu' and useful Improvements in Buttons for Doors, lVindows, Sac., of which the following is a specification.
MV invention relates to improvements in buttonsffor screen doors, wlndows, etc.` and closed. As will be apparent the button may has for its object essentially to provide a be used upon windows and sashes as well as button which will adapt itself to different doors. l/Vhen not in use the button may'be thicknesses of cent casing.
To this end the invention consists in the features of construction, combination, and arrangement of parts hereinafter described and claimed.
In the accompanying drawings forming part of this specification, Figure l is a perspective view of a of a door and 'ad- Inay be rotated upon the screw into spring engagement with the adjacent door whether the same is flush with the casing or whether it projects outward from or falls below the face of the casing.
I claim as my invention:
l. In combination with a casing and adjacent movable part, a pivot carried by the casing, a but-ton comprising a base portion rotatable u )on said pivot and formed with an upwar ly and forwardly extending spring part slidable upon said pivot.
In combination with a casing and adjacent movable part, a pivot carried by the casing, a button rotatable thereon, comprising a base portion, and a laterally extending spring part slidable toward said base portion.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
FRANK T. LUND.
and view through the door and casing.
Referring to the drawings, A represents a portion of an ordinary door casing and B a portion of an ordinary door.
2 represents a stop against which the door shuts. Adapted to be secured to the casing alongside the door, as by a screw 3, is my improved button C. The button C has a flat portion 4 to rest upon the casing, and an upwardly and inwardly bent spring portion 5. The spring portion 5 projects beyond the frame and downwardly to form an abutment end 6 to bear against the door, as shown in the drawings. A securing screw extends through the spring portion 5 and the spring portion may slide upon the screw and adapt itself to di'erent thicknesses of Witnesses:
A. A. UPGREN, CHARLES OLSON.
