ISAAC C. GRAY, OF LOGANSPORT, INDIANA, ASSIGNOR 0F ONE-THIRD T0 JESSE O. GILLENWATER, OF PERU', INDIANA, AND ONE-THIRD TO JACOB E. LUDDERS, OF
LOGANSPORT, INDIANA.
WINDOW-SHADE HOLDER AND CURTAIN-POLE SUPPORT.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed January 9, 1913.
Patented Dec. 30, ISIS. Serial No. 741,063.
To all whom, t may concern Be it known that I, ISAAC C. GRAY, citizen of the United States, residing at Logansport, in the county of Cass and State of Indiana, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Window-Shade Holders and Curtain-Pole Supports, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to window xtures, and more particularly to a combination shade-holder and curtain pole support.
The primary object of the invention is to provide improved means for securing win dow shades in position upon a window trame, said means comprising spring controlled bracket members adapting the device for use upon windo-w frames of varying width.
A further object of the invention is to provide improved means for adjusting shade rollers laterally so that the improved fixtures will be adapted for shades of diii'erent widths.
A further object of the invent-ion is to provide a curtain pole holder of improved form capable of ready adjustment.
rlhe construction of the several elements of the improvement will be fully described hereinafter in connection with the accompanying drawing which forms a part of this specification, and their novel features will be set forth in the appended claim.
In the drawing: Figure 1 is a front elevation of a portion of window frame equipped with my improvements. Fig. 2 is a horizontal section taken through one of the telescopic brackets employed. view partly in vertical section showing one embodiment of the device. Fig. 1 is a detail sectional view illustrating one form of spring used in connection with the telescopic brackets.
Referring to Figs. l, 2 and 3 the reference numerals 1 and 2 designate Atelescopic bracket members, the inner one 1 of which is provided with a cross bar 4 to which is attached one end of a coil spring 5, the opposite end of which is secured to the adjacent end of the outer bracket member 2. These members 1 and 2 are provided with flanges 6 and 7 (one for each member) which abut against the parallel sidebars of the window Fig. 8 is an end frame 8, the function of the spring 5 being to clamp the two bracket members against the sides of the frame as best seen in Fig. 2. The two bracket members are connected by interlocking edge flanges ,9 and 10 so that said members are readily adjustable telescopically adapting the bracket members for use upon window frame side bars of different widths.
In connection with the bracket members I employ means for supporting a shade roller. Various forms of devices for this purpose may be resorted to; that shown in Figs. 1 and 3 comprising sleeves 11 slidably supported upon the brackets, and provided with projecting arms 12 having bearings 13 to receive the ends of the shade roller. I also utilize the bracket members as supports tor longitudinally adjustable curtain poles. In Fig. 1 I show a pole made up of two members 14C and 15 having their ends provided with loops 16 by means of which a telescopic connection of the pole members is effected. The pole members are supported by depending arms 17 held by arms 18 projecting from the outer ends of the bracket members.
Having fully described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is The combination with a window frame.` ot shade holders, each comprising trough shaped telescopic sections, each section provided with a flange to engage said frame and one of said sections having a cross bar, a coil spring located within the trough like sections and secured at one end to the crossbar and at its opposite end t-o the outer end of the other section, a sleeve slidably supported on one of the telescopic sections and having a projecting arm formed with a bearing, an arm secured to one of said sections for supporting a curtain, and a Vlongitudinally adjustable curtain pole supported by said arms substantially as described.
In testimony whereof I aiiix my signature in presence oi two witnesses.
ISAAC C. GRAY.
