Description

ttated Ctatee atent @titille Letters Patent No. 108,218, dated October 11, 1870; antedated October 1.1870.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same To all whom it may concern'.-A
Be it known that I, ALBERT Wassen, of Hoboken, in thc'county of Hudson and State ofNeW Jersey, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Perfumed Parasol and Cane-Head; and I do Vhereby `declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing forming` part of this specication.
M y invention relates to parasol-handles, canes, 85o., and has for its lobject to arrange some convenient rc- `ceptacle therein for perfnmery.
The invention consists in an improvement upon the English patent No. 1,452, of 1863, and will be particularly specified in claim.
In the drawing- Figure 1 isa vertical section of a cane or parasolhead, constructed according to my invention, the section being on the line a: x, iig. A2.
Figure 2 is a top view of the same.
Similar letters of reference indicate correspol'ulingr A is a cavity made in the head, which contains sponge, or any other absorbing material.
The top of the head is perforated with one or more holes, as seen in the drawing, and it is covered by a cap 4or perforated disk, B, fastened to the top of the head by a central pivot, C, so that it may be turned on its pivot.
The holes inthe top of the head and those in the are closed, preventing, thereby, the escape of the per` fume.
This invention may be applied to the heads of the umbrella-staff, as well as to heads of parasols orcanes.
I do not confine myself to perfumes exclusively. The absorbent may be saturated with eamphor or other restoring liquid, it' desired.
Having thus described my invention,
I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- Tile combination, with a cane or parasol having hol- 'low and perforated head, with pin D thereon, ot' the vibrating cup B, pivoted at C, and having arc-slot E therein, as and for the purpose described.
The above specification of my invention signed by me this 31st day of January, 1870.
