Description
P. MUSCHIOL.
FERRULB.
APPLICATION IILBD MAR.17. 1913.
1,079,258, I Patented Nov.18,1913.
NITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
PAUL MUSCHIOL, OF SCHARLEY, NEAR BEUTHEN, GERMANY.
FERRULE.
To all 'LU/0m t may concern Be it known that I, PAUL MUsenioL, a citizen of the German Empire, and residing at Schar-ley, near Beuthen, Upper Silesia, German Empire, have invented a new and useful Improved Ferrule, of which the following is a description.
The present invention relates to an improved ferrule for sticks and umbrellas, which consists of a stationary part mounted on the stick or the like and an elastic part, which may be screwed on to the same, so that the stick will be prevented from striking the ground sharply.
In the accompanying drawings Figure 1 is a side elevation partly in section and Fig. 2 is a cross section through the parts which are screwed together.
The ferrule Z) is attached to the end of the stick in the usual manner and is provided with a practically centrally disposed screw c adapted to fit a sleeve d eonically extending toward the bottom and provided with exterior corrugations or milling. This fitting Z is embedded in ythe rubber, leather or other elastic material e, as will be clearly seen from the drawings. The fitting (Z with the elastic material e is then screwed on to Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed March 17, 1913.
Patented Nov. 1S, 1913.
Serial No. 754,991.
the screw c and the whole forms an elastic ferrulc attached to the end of the stick or umbrella a. The parts Z and e form a whole together' and when the elastic part of the ferrule is used up, a new part having the fitting l in the same may be applied or if necessary, a new elastic part may be applied to the fitting (Z.
I claim as my invention In a device of the class described, a ferrule, a member extending from one end thereof and centrally mounted, a tip having a central bore extending partly therethrough, one end of the tip being solid, and the lower end of `the bore being flared, a sleeve having outer walls similarly flared and a central bore of uniform diameter throughout, the centrally mounted member entering said central bore for securing the tip of the fer-rule, the solid portion thereof being at a point remote from the ferrule.
In testimony whereof I allix my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
