is that buttons such as are commonly sewn upon the inner face of the waistbands of trousersy designed especially for summer wear may be readily attached to the lining either by stitching or by eyelets, without breaking the continuity of the canvas tube, and therefore the tube will always resent a smooth interior surface along which the f belt may readily slide. Another advantage is that the waistband itself while possessin a proper degree of fiexibility is so stiene when the belt yis placed therein that the trousers will be properly draped upon the person thereby obtaining a neat appearance. Another advantage is that the interior canvas tube forms the wearing surface of the belt and protects the outside facing and the lining from wear` caused by the rubbing of the belt as it works in the tube under the movement of the person. This last is an important feature inasmuch as the waistband will greatly ontlast an ordinaryT waistband formed of the thickness of material of the garment itself.

t will be seen from the foregoing that a band constructed in this manner will effectually coneeal'the supporting member, and at the same time forni a neat device.

What is claimed is:
