POST FULLER. APPLICATION FILED JULY 31, 1912.
v Patented Oct. 7, 1913.
ELIAS OLSON, or JEWELL, IOWA.
POST-FULLER.
Application filed July 31, 1912.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ELIAs OLSON, a citizen of the United States, residing at Jewell, in the county of Hamilton, State of Iowa, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Post-Pullers; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to post extractors and has for an object to provide a device of this character comprising a lever pivoted in a support and having an attachment upon one end which serves to reinforce the end and at the same time carries means for holding the post encircling member and bite into the post, during the operation of extracting the latter.
In the drawings: Figure 1 is an elevational view of the device inuse, Fig. 2 is a vertical section on the line 2 2 of Fig. 1, Fig. 3 is a vertical longitudinal section on the line 3-3 of Fig. 2, Fig. 4 is a detailed view with the metallic member removed from the forward end of the lever.
Referring more particularly to the accompanying drawings, in which similar reference characters designate corresponding parts throughout, 1O designates the lever which is pivoted a slight distance from its forward end between the upper end of the guide members 11 of the support, by means of the pivot pin 12. The lower end of the guide members 11 are connected by a bottom horizontal member 13, thus forming the triangular support, it being understood that the guide members 11 converge toward their upper ends. Brace members 1 1 are secured to the edges of the guide members 11 at their lower end and to the long edges of the bottom member 13, thus forming a tool box, within which suitable tools may be carried, as will be clearly understood.
Secured to the forward end of the lever Copies of this patent may be obtained for Specification of Letters Patent.

10 is a U-shaped metallic member 15 which extends around the end of said lever and over the upper and lower faces thereof, said member being secured to the lever in any suitable and well known manner as shown at 16. The member 15 is provided with a plurality of spaced upwardly and rearwardly directed hook extensions 17 upon its upper portion, over which the ring 18 is adapted to be engaged, said ring extending around the post 19 while a hook member 20 is formed in a similar manner upon the en of a member 15 to bite into the side of the post 19 thus securely gripping said post to extract the same upon downward movement of the rear end of the lever 10. It will be understood that the hoop or ring 18 is adapted to be engaged over the proper hook member 17 to bring the forward end of the lever adjacent the post 19.
From the foregoing it will be clearly apparent that I have provided a post extractor of extremely simple construction and which will be highly efficient and effective in use.
It will be apparent that minor changes in the details of construction may be resorted to within the scope of the appended claim without in the slightest degree departing from the spirit of my invention.
What I claim is:
In a post extractor, the combination with the supporting frame, of a lever carried in said supporting frame, a U-shaped member engaged over one end of said lever, said U-shaped member having a plurality of spaced hooked members upon its upper face, a post engaging member formed on the end thereof, and a post encircling ring removably engaging said spaced hook members.
In testimony whereof, I aflix my signature, in presence of two witnesses.
' ELIAS OLSON.
