Description

T. BROZ. TOBACCO PIPE. APPLICATION FILED mais, 1912.
Patented. sept. Vso, 1913.
.am f2 Tomas Baca, or PRAGUE, AUSTRIA-HUNGARY.
` TOBACCO-PIPE.
Specification of Letters Patent. l
Application led December 16, 1912. Serial No. 736,992.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it knownthat I, ToM Bno, a subject of the Emperorot Austria-Hungary, residing in Prague, II, Bohemia, Austria- Hungary, have invented a certain new and useful Tobacco-Pipe, of which the following is a specification. Y
rlhis invention relates to a tobacco pipe, the so-called sport pipe, constructed so that the smoke arrives -cool and purified in the mouth, and the pipe does not get wet, burn or bite, and the cleaning can be elected very quickly and. easily.
A construction according,` to this invention is illustrated by way oteriample in the accompanying drawing in which- Figure 1 is a longitudinal section through the whole pipe,
tion through the head ofthe pipe, Fig. 5
shows the smoke tube in side elevation and' Figs. 3, 4 and 6 are cross-sections.
Into the projection or neck 2 of the wooden pipe head or bowl a is inserted in a corresponding recess a metal tube 1 closed at the bottom and open at 'the top and provided at the bottom end with a vertical branch 3 from which branches oil a small transmission tube 7 parallel to the tube 1. The tube 7 is -closed at the upper end and connect-ed to the tube 1 by means of an obliquerhol'e 9. Into the tubular projection 3 projects the tubular4 piece 4 of the sheet metal insertion 5 lining the bottom of the bowl or chamber 6. Between the tube 1 and the small tube 7 is arranged an insulating layer 10. Thetube 1 with the branch 3 and the small tube 7 forms one whole which, when the sheet metal insertion 5 with the tubular piece 4 is raised, can be withdrawn from the pipe head and inserted again.
Into the tube 1 is inserted the smoke tube 11 exactly tting it. The said smoke tube is provided on its surfacewith. a helical groove 14 terminating at the top in an 'annular recess The bottom end of the groove is connected by means of a hole 18 to the central hollow space 19 'of the smoke tube, While a'. little higher, a hole 20 connects the axial bore 15 of the smoke tube to the groove 14, the said bore 15 projecting only as far as the hole 20. At the bottom end on the smoke tube is placed a metal sleeve 12 provided with two diametrical elongated recesses 21 and 22, one ofwhieh is wider than the other Fig. 2 a longitudinal sec?v slightly tapering 17 into: which the hole 9 opens.`
to allow of the introduction Aot`an interchangeable suction plug 13 closing -the -hollow space 19 at the bottom in an air-tight manner.
- In smoking, the smoke passes Jfrom ,the-
ltubular -branch 3 into the transmission tube 7 and on arriving at the top, passes through the hole 9 into the annular recess 17 and thence int-o the helical groove 14. On arrivlng at the bottom, the smoke passes through the hole 20 linto the bore 15 and thence into the mouthpiece.
Patented Sept. 30, 1913. 5
Although the tobacco ,pipe described is I small, andthe branch 2 short, the smokenevertheless arrives at the mouth cool and the vapors of water settle onthe walls of the transmission pipe 7 and groove 14 andl trickle down to the suction' plug 13, to which purpose) the' groove 14 is connected at the bottom end by means of the hole 18 to the suc-tion plug 13. .The mo-isture pre- Cpitated at the bottom of the tobacco chamber 6 passes direct into the suction plug 13. The tobacco pipe described can be easily and quickly cleaned, as not only the smoke tube 11, but Aalso the 'combined tube 1, 3, 7 can be withdrawn and is accessible at every o-int.
What-I claim as my invention and desire to secure by .Letters Patent is 1. In a tobacco pipe theJ combination of a bowl having a neck extension, a tapering tube elo-sed at the lower end and adapted to be `insertedinto the neck extension, an eX- tensio-n branch on the lower end of the tapering tube, a transmission tube substantially parallel to the tapering tube and connected to the extension branch at the botdry, as it has to travel a longdistanee, and
tom and to the tapering tubeat `its upper Y end, a smoke tube adapted to'be inserted in the taperingtube, a helical groove on the outside of the smoke tube and connectedat its lower end to the interior of the smoke tube, au chamber in the lower end of -the smoke tube and connected at its, upperend to the helical groove, and a 'suc-tion plug to close the lower end of the chamber in the lower end of the smoke tube.
2. In a tobacco pipe the combination of a bowl having a neck extensioma socket piece adapted to be inserted in the neck extension and comprising a tapering tube closed at the lower end, an extension branch on the lower end of the tapering tube and a transforth.
3. In a tobacco pipe the combination of a bowl having a neck extension, a taperin tube closed at the lower end and adapted to be inserted into the neck extension, an extension branch on the lower end of the tapering tube, a transmission tube substantially parallel to the tapering tube and connected to the extension branch at the bottom and to the tapering tube at its upper end, a smoke tube adapted to be inserted in the tapering tube a helical groove on the outside of the smoke tube and connected at its lower end to the interior of the smoke tube, a chamber in the lower end of the smoke tube and connected' at its upper end to the helical roove, and a sleeve provided with dia-metrlcal slots of different widths and adapted to receive interchangeable suction plugs, said sleeve being adapted to close the bottom of the chamber in the lower end of the smoke tube.
In testimony whereof I have name to this-specification in the two subscribing witnesses.`
