To all whom t may concern:
Be it known that I, J ULIUs W. MCAFEE, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the city of Chicago, county of Cook, and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Drying- A Rooms, of which the following is a'specil cation.
My invention relates to improvements in drying rooms .especially adapted for use in drying fillers, stains, varnishes, enamels and kindred liquid and pigmentprodu'cts, the
object of the ,invention being to provide an improved drying room of this character which is provided with improved means for inducing circulation therein.
The ,invention consists -in the combinations and arrangements of parts hereinafter described and claimed.
The invention will be ,best 'understood by reference to the accompanying drawing forming a part of this specification and l of the room, this arrangement being provided so as to permit of the circulation of hot water or other heating medium through said coils.
A cooling coil 5 is arranged centrally inv the room adjacent the top thereof, as shown, and is provided with a suitable drip pan 5. A suitable supply pipe 6 and a discharge pipe 7 are connected with coil 5 to permit of the circulation of xcold water orfother cooling medium throughv coil 5. A shield Wall 8 is arranged adjacent each of the coils 1 anda little above the floor of the room and terminating belowfth'e ceiling thereof so as to form an air duct abouteach coil` to induce upward circulation of air from .said coil. Curved deie'ctors 9 are arranged 1n the upper corners of the room to facili-l tate the circulation of air therethrough. By
this arrangement, it will be observed that two air circulations will dbe induced in the room, by the combined action of the heating and, cooling coils. The hot air arising from each coil being cooled adjacent the ceiling by the cooling coils 5 and 6, said 60 cooled air falling in the -room thus effecting a double circulation, as indicated by the arrows. The articles to be dried are arranged in the room in any suitable 'or desired manner, as will be readily understood A by those skilled in the art. y
While I have illustrated fand described the preferred form of construction for carrying my invention into effect, this is capable of. variation and modication without 7-0 departing from the spirit' of the invention. I, therefore, do not wish to be limited to the precise details of construction set forth, but
desire to avail myself of such variations and modifications as come within the scope of the appended claimsl l Having described my invention what I claim asV new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. The combination in a dryingiroom, of heating means arranged at each side therey of near the bottom; and cooling means arranged substantiallyl centrally and near the top thereof, substantially as described.
2. The combination in a drying room, of
a heating coil arranged at each side near the bottom thereof; and a cooli'ng'coil arranged substantially centrally and near the top thereof, substantially as' described. j
v3. The combination in a drying room, of
a heating coil arranged ateach side near `the bottom thereof; a cooling coil arranged substantially centrally and near the top thereof; and a shield wall arranged `adjavcent each of'said side coils and forming ab 95 air duct therefor open at both top 'and bottom, substantially as, described.
4. lThe combination in Aav drying room', of
a heating coil arranged at each side near the bottom thereof; a cooling coil'arranged-sub- 10ov stantiall centrally' and near'the top thereof; a shield wall arranged Aadjacent each of said side coils and forming an air duct therefor open at both top and bottom; and deectors arranged in the upper corners of the room and adapted to faollitate circulation of air therein, substantially as described.
