SANITARY TOILET-PAD.
Leraars.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed September 16, 1912. Serial No. 720,642.
To all whom t may concern:
Be it known that we, HOWARD'M. BAT- soN and LLEWELLYN W. CHANNELL, citizens of the United States, residing at Vaughn, in the Acounty of Piercev and State of lVest Virginia, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Sanitary Toilet-Pads, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing.
This invention relates to paper pads, and has special reference to a pad for sanitary purposes.
The principal object of the invention is to improve and simplify the general construction of a device of this character.
With the above and other objects in view, this invention consists in general of certain novel constructions, combinations and arragements of parts, as will be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings, and specifically claimed.
In the accompanying drawings, like characters of reference indicate like parts in the several views, and z-Figure l is a plan view of the improved pad. Fig. 2 is a section on the line 2-2 of Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is a section on the line 3--3 of Fig. 1. Fig. 4 is a section on the line 4-4 of Fig 1.
In the construction of this pad there is provided a card board foundation 10 having inwardly .extending portions 11 separated by slits 12 so that the portions may be bent down as indica-ted in Figs. 2 to 4 inclusive. Mounted on this card board foundation are a multiplicity of sheets of tissue paper forming a pad 13 of elongated annular form. Extending inwardly from each of the sheets isatab 14 arranged in the front end of the pad, and extending outward from the sheets are tabs l5 which are defined from the sheets 4by rows of perforations 16. These tabs 15 are glued or otherwise secured together, and in like manner the rear portion of the pad has the sheets secured together vas at 17, by a part defined for the head of the padby a perforated line 18. Extending outwardly from the pad adjacent the front thereof are a series of rows of tabs 19 by means of which each sheet may be grasped and torn from the remainder. Secured to the foundation 10 are a series of spring clips each comprising a U-shaped body 20 having inwardly extending extremities 21` rebent to form the finger grips 22.
In use the pad is applied as shown, and the sheets removed one by oneas they are used.
There has thus been provided a simple and efficient device of the character dei scribed, and for the purpose specified.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new, ist- In a device of the kind described, a relatively heavy foundation comprising an elongated annular body having downwardly bent, inwardly extending portions separated by slits, a multiplicity of relatively thin paper leaves of similar form secured to the body. each leaf being provided with an inwardly extending tab at the front thereof, and outwardly extending tabs spaced around the periphery and defined from the leaf by lines of perforation, said outwardly extending tabs being secured together by suitable means, the separated leaves being secured together at the rear by a portion defined from the body by a line of perforations, outwardly extending tabs formed on each leaf and free from each other to provide gripping means, and spring clips secured to the body each comprising a U-shaped member having inwardly extending ends bent to form finger grips.
In testimony whereof we hereunto affix our signatures in presence of two witnesses.
