Description

waited tatra @met elitist.'
Leam Patent No, 106,835, natal August 3o, 1870.
The Schedule referre 'to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same- Tc all wlwmt may concern:
Be it known that I, JOHN W. KRAMER, of Blooms-I.
burg, in-.the county of Columbia and State ot'Pennsylvania, have invented a new and improved Door'-v Strip; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact descriptionmthereof', which will enable others skilled in the-art to make and use the same, reference being had to t-he accompanying drawing.r forming a part of this specification.
My invention relates to and consists in certain improvements in raising and adjusting weather-strips to doors.
Figure 1 is a sectional 'elevation of a door with a strip arranged according to my improvements, and
Figure 2 isa horizont-al section of the same.
-Similar letters 'of reference indicate corresponding parts.
A is the thin metal or wood strip, arranged under the door, and preferably in a recess in the sill; it vis hinged at B.
C is a ling or yoke, hinged to the bottom of the recess at D, and connected at the other end to a rod, E, extending to a vert-ical recess inthe jamb, to which the door is hinged where it is connected to a springlever, F, pivoted at G, and arranged so that the door in closing will strike the upper end at H and force the rod E 'out to raise the link and the strip.
The spring lever will keep the edge of the strip up to the door whether it be highl or low,and will admitv of .placing 'a carpet over the strip.
When thedoor is opened the strip falls'and rests in therecess level witlrthefloor.
Haring thus described my invention,
I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- 1 ,The hinged Hat metal -strip A, hinged yoke (l, and rod E, combineetwith an elast-ic pivotedleve'r, F, whose elasticity will admit of varying thicknesses of carpet over the strip.. Whenall are relatively arranged wit-h respect t-o the door, and to one another, as shown and described.
JOHN W. KRAMER.
Witnesses.
