APPLICATION FILED FEB. 2a, 1913.

INVENTOR RY A Wt Rm llomey I lfItJlll;
HENRY BOAR'DMAN, OF DES MOINES, IOWA.
FIGHTING-COCK TOY.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HENRY BOARDMAN, a subject of the King of Great Britain, residing at Des Moines, in the county of Polk and State of Iowa, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Fighting Cock Toys; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters and figures of reference. marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in fighting cock toy and comprises a simple and efficient device of this nature having various details of construe tion and combinations and arrangements of parts which will be hereinafter fully described, shown in the accompanying drawings and then specifically defined in the appended claim.
My invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a perspective view illustrating the features of my invention, and Fig. 2 is a sectional view vertically and trans versely through the device.
Reference now being had to the details of the drawings by letter, A designates a suitable housing which may be of any size or shape and provided with openings B in the wall thereof.
G designate coiled springs which are adapted to engage over the edges of the apertures D formed in the rear wallof the housing, said coiled springs extending horizontally and projecting through the openings B and terminating each in a hook D upon which the figure of a cock E is mounted. It will be noted that the springs are so positioned and each carry the figure of a cock and such figures are adapted to imi- Specification of Letters Patent.

tate the natural movements that cocks in a fight would assume when the springs are given a back and forth vibratory movement.
Cords, designated by letters F and H, are fastened one to each coiled spring and pass through an aperture II and thence through an opening N in the roof of the housing and secured to a loop 0 which may be operated at any suitable distance from the housing by a person giving the same a pull to cause the two springs to vibrate back and forth and carry each a cock.
In operation, when the loop 0 of the string is pulled upon, the two springs will be caused to vibrate in horizontal planes toward and away from each other, the springs being allowed to move freely within the openings B in the side walls of the casing.
l Vhat I claim to be new is A figured toy comprising a housing having openings in the opposite walls thereof, coiled springs frictionally engaging the edges of the openings in the rear walls of the casing and forming means for supporting the springs in horizontal position, the other ends of the springs extending through openings in the front wall of the casing, the movements of the forward ends of the springs being limited by the length of the openings in the front wall of the casing, figures mounted upon the forward ends of the springs, cords passing through the top of the casing, eyes fastened to the rear wall of the casing and through which said cords pass, the latter being connected one to each coiled spring and serving as means for causing the springs to vibrate in a horizontal plane, as set forth.
In testimony whereof I hereunto affix my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
HENRY BGARDMAN.
